I say, let's see how this turns out. As the coaches said, the change is inevitable, no matter what. But they and the players are trying their best to adapt. On the positive side, BW may even gain some new fans. Those who'll tune in just to see Flash play SC2 may stay, and watch the entire league, not just the SC2 games.

Holy crap, get a load of this guy.
I bet you would've complained that you to pay 2 times to get the full SC1 game (vanilla + classic) back in the 90's.
You get the same amount of content for the price you pay now, just like back then, it's only that each race has about 20~30 missions in sequential order. (Terran (Tutorial missions + main game) -> Zerg (expansion) -> Protoss (expansion))
And you're a scrub if you don't give a fuck about the single player, because that's what the half of the game is.
And you know what, it's a good thing that people like you have decided to stay away from SC2.
Good, keep at it.

Excited to see this level of open-mindedness.

The fact is, the split from SSBM and SSBB ruined the smash community, and Source really hurt CS.

The quicker pros join the game that more people want to watch (thus monetizing it), the better.

I know you've been playing BW for 12 years, but the more open-minded the BW community is about switching to the newer, more popular game, the better.

Open-minded? Almost all BW players have tried SC2 at some point. There's certain things in BW that just made alot of sense imo. Designers probably never envisioned BW as a top-level competitive game, but it turned out that way.

Yeah, I just FEEL the difference in thinking in developement of BW and developement of WoL even in cinematics.

Zergs in Battle of Amerigo ----> fast attack marines with a savage fury to ripp their skulls apart, to finish' em quick. Simple as that!
Zergs in most SC2 trailers and cinematics (Kerrigan's Betrayal) ----> jump in from the ground or behind a wall, look at enemies face, make a huge monster "GROAAAAAAAR" to be scarry like a fucking troll in Lord of the Rings, and than die from few shots to be awsome badass.

Hitthat you are 100% correct about the intensity of a SC2 match, theres nothing to see that gives you some plus against other RTS games (I am talking about the old ones, not the new crappy versions of them), reality is SC2 is really popular because is the best new RTS game in the market and was sold as the succesor of SC:BW (the "perfect" RTS game), but compared with the classics, sorry but it goes far from those. The intensity of a BW match and a SC2 match is not even comparable, when you have seen a pro BW match, SC2 is just the stream that you keep in background and if you feel bored then you go and look at it to spend time.

You're talking about your personal feelings about the game like they're the clear objective truth. Almost as if sc2 fans have been deluded or are deluding themselves into being entertained, but you and Hitthat can see the game for what it really is.

That is my point, why should I just drop my opinion if someone doesnt like it? Are SC2 fans exited? Fair enouth, have a great time watching new PL. But why should I? Yes, I am sad and frustrated (but not surprised) with PL slowly declining, so what? Now I have to jump to another bandwagon and hope that will cure my anger?

You expressed your feeling but wrote it like it was the truth for everyone.

You can see that BW is a less popular game than SC2, no matter what happened in the past, and even if it is better, a lot of people don't like to listen to korean commentary, and new people can't because they don't know whats going on in the game if it isn't explained.

If the Korean BW leagues had good english commentary, I would say its gonna be a lot more popular.

Sc2 in malaysia is price at RM 250 for a game while broodwar I can get it for Rm 100 ..... So yeah I am lucky I didn't spend so much on a game like sc2 . Best money spent was on cs1.6, source and broodwar got cs 1.6 and half life anthology for at least RM 50 on steam and source Rm 70 .

Also if people don't give a damn about the single player doesn't mean they are scrub more likely they didn't enjoy for what it is .

Please look at the price of BW when it was released, not the price after 10 years.

Meh I got in to the scene in the year 2008 and finally bought the game in 2010 although I have been playing the game for free on iccup and garena ^_^. Also hitthat description of the battle at amerigo and kerrigan (epic last stand ) is freaking hilarious .

Yeah, I just FEEL the difference in thinking in developement of BW and developement of WoL even in cinematics.

Yeah I recall the bullets weren't effective against the hydras in the cinematic at the battle of Amerigo it look like if kerrigan had a billion of bullets she her self could have take out all the swarm alone . Well there goes again about the quality of story telling .

My bad, I admit I was not being objective, and my bad opinion about SC2 as spectator sport, was wrong. I will try to fix it NOW:

"SC2 is promising new title from THE masters of RTS developement, Blizzard. It have top noch graphics, single player is fun to play, cinematics are great as always. With multi its now top noch e-sport game with huge community outside Korea and super awsome players. Yet it have a potential to be even better title, with new upcoming awsome add-on Heart of the Swarm, many incoming years of further developement and top korean proleague (along with top BW pro players) ready to switch, that will SURELY make it as fascinating and spoectacular, as the great first instalment. Community is great unlike those elitist assholes from BW. If you are unable to see, how godly that game is, you are without a doubt a fag".

Here, have a some fair opinion. Are you happy now?

I agree with you but that's just technological development in the graphics department. You don't expect to get same graphics after what, 15 years? Gamers of current generation want to see good graphics, believe it or not it's a very important factor for selling more copies.

However I agree that it looks a little bit too pretty and detailed for the unit deaths to be picked out easily while there is a big engagement going on. While it looks really cool and awesome, sometimes it's realy tough to see what's going on after like, 3 seconds passes and you see whos winning.

I don't care if you are talking about what your opinion is, if you think BW is the greatest thing ever and everything else is shit as fuck, do that.

What I don't like is when you pretend that its a fact and if anyone goes against you, they're wrong.

Right now you are just another troll that roam the many forums these day, which is sad, since you can never have a proper discusion on the forums anymore.

And as for the community.. well, the amount of completely stupid people in SC2 is uncountable, the reason there aint as many in BW right now is simply, theres far more people playing SC2.

I don't see this as a problem at all except when there is a lot of units under big flying units, Brood lords or medivacs.

Of course they are personal feelings about a video game, seriously you know that tastes are subjective? I didnt know that I have to clarify that. lol, if you felt in love watching SC2 , good for you, enjoy it to the max. The move from BW to SC2 is not even because the games (BW is far more popular than SC2 in Korea (it is a fact)), It is because of money, no sponsoring then not sustainable scene for Kespa Teams, well Kespa thinks that they can still keep its teams taking a piece of that big money pie that is SC2 in the foreign scene, It will raise the popularity of SC2, because is going to be half time played by their players and it is going to be on TV? lets see. "In my personal opinion", BW grew as a culture in Korea, so it is not about the teams or the players, it is about the game for the fans, they enjoy watching those excellent players playing BW, not SC2, checkers, LoL or whatever, so the Starcraft franchise will continue its decline in favor of other game genres.

If anyone reads your post, they're gonna see your saying "BW is the best ever, SC2 is some random stuff". I believe the guy you quoted said "You're talking about your personal feelings about the game like they're the clear objective truth."

So what kind of proper discusion you expect on THIS thread? Speculation of how great the new proleague will be after 2 years from now? About new possibilies of further e-sport developement outside Korea/SC2 in Korea? Tell me, becouse i really dont know what do you expect.

Well, I believe you are a smart person and know the answer to that, and I'll just leave you to either try to not troll or to troll, whichever you decide.

Actually if we ignore the clueless Sc2 fans with "herp derp in time everything will be better" and dont care about the "BUT YOUR GAME SUCKS SO DO YOU YOU CLUELESS SHIT" bw ones, its probably the most decent thread out of all about this topic

To completely ignore some of the things that made BW great makes SC2 really really hard for a lot of BW fans to accept. I mean yes, micro is there, macro is there. But you don't see defilers coming out at the last second to cast swarm to deny an area, nor do you see reaver harassment, or any sorts of equivalent. I'm really tired of this argument too. I'd just wish SC2 would change >.>

I would regard mmortal speed prism drops pretty much filling that role, not being entirely equivalent but filling some kind of similiar role. The new viper will be filling a close enough role of what the defiler had. Obviously you don't know shit. T_T

Having played both games a fair bit, I can tell you that immortal drops are nothing close to reaver harass. First of all immortals aren't AOE units, secondly warp prisms aren't nearly as essential as shuttles are in any P match-up. Plus you don't load and unload between shots for immortals like you do with reaver/shuttle. Nor do you see the type of loading/unloading + pulling shuttle back micro with immortal/warp prism in battles.

Well you should see this video, it shows some amazing micro, along with well i dont think some of the clips are the best micro every but...
