ZvT: 3 Hatch Lurker
ZvP:3 Base Spire into Hydra
ZvZ: 9 Pool
Try that against a computer until you get the builds down and then take it to iccup and ask for some d- games and then just keep practicing!

I'm not scared of a steep learning curve, as a matter of fact I get very ambitious once I set my mind on something and enjoy working hard. What are the first things that I should work on to become a good Zerg player? Any kind of advice and or links are very appreciated. Edit: What is BGH? BGH is "Big Game Hunters", a 3v3/4v4 map which is helpful to noobs to get their macro and stuff in order but that most serious players don't use too much.

Find a build on Liquipedia you like. Practice it against the computer. Again. Again. Again. Again. Simply executing a build order is much harder in BW, but you need to learn to do it. Once you feel comfortable, go on ICCUP and lose a bunch. Practice some more. Play some more. You can't just fuck around in the low leagues in BW. There are no low leagues. You're going to lose. You're going to lose a lot. When you watch the replay, you'll see the reason why you lost is fairly obvious. I lost in the sGs tournament because I left 2/3rds at my army chilling at my base during the final battle. Flat-out forgot. I also sent three reavers, sans shuttle, to crawl across the map to my opponent's natural and by the time they got there I forgot about them because I was too busy making carriers in PvP and forgetting to build interceptors. Sadly, the VOD has disappeared from Nazza's stream. It was a very close game, after both of us had won previously in the tournament. I've played literally over 500 matches on ICCUP and was in a training program, and I'm still playing at such an abysmal level (though admittedly a lot of that is my own fault, I don't take my own advice enough). This game is hard, and don't expect to get to D+ anytime soon.

Watch a few Jaedong vod in each 3 matchs-ups, so you have an idea of what you should be doing, and you'll probably be able to win some games. If you want to really improve, and to make your life easier, do learn build orders though, they'll help you tremendously, and you'll have a better understanding of strats that way. Don't hesitate to ask questions, there will be plenty of people helping. Well, no reason to try it to see if you enjoy it or not. BW is a hard game, but it's not as impossible as some people make it sound^^ Edit: by not that hard, I mean not that hard to win some games, because there's always this feeling that it is indeed hard, that you can improve so much more in this game, but when you win, it's so rewarding =)

First, you should go to iCCup and try out their server, its pretty active. And also, head over to Liquidpedia and look for some builds depending on your race since the BOs in BW is a lot different than SC2. Other than that.. Enjoy the fabulous game of Starcraft: Broodwar! -Enex

with BW the game really starts after the 5th probe, coz there are things they can do which can lead to you early death, so you never really get any rest ![]()

I'd argue that BW zerg is more similar to sc2 terran in playstyle. The game mechanics of zerg will be just fine for you, but if you sit back and let terran or protoss build an army like you do in sc2, you'll just get rolled.

A 'management' style zerg is all about cutting corners for drone production. It's holding off the enemy death ball with -1 lurkers and defilers, so you can get an edge. OP please do not listen to everyone in this thread... as some people don't understand that they could be lacking some game knowledge. SC2 does not play anything like SCBW. It doesn't matter what race you played in SC2 as the game dynamics in SCBW are 100% different ![]() ![]()

The game mechanics of zerg will be just fine for you, but if you sit back and let terran or protoss build an army like you do in sc2, you'll just get rolled. Liquipedia refutes this idea The reason Terran is so seemingly inflexible and reliant on timing pushes is because in every Terran matchup it is the Terran that decides when he wants to be aggressive. The Terran player must be proactive in stopping expansions and worker production, therefore, it is the Terran player that must force the action. Also, remember that Zerg is a reactionary race and that if it is not being attacked it should be expanding. It is interesting that Protoss plays both the aggressor in PvZ and the reactionary in PvT, These quotes make it sound like it's the job of the Terrans and the Protoss to stop the Zerg from developing a large economy/army, not the contrary.

It sounds pretty cool. I switched yesterday to bw for sc2 because my computer couldn't run it perfectly I had like 2 fps. I started playing at 2010 april with the beta, and i got into Diamond league. In bw right now I'm D with around 1200 points. So I'm searching for friends. If you want to play just add me as friend (/f add) in iccup: Atlasy[HUN] and on FIsh: Atlasy. I want to play semi-serious, so it would be good if I had atleast some practice partners. Edit: Oh, and i forgot to mention that I'm Protoss. I was zerg in sc2, but in the first phase of beta i was toss and even in broodwar (when I messed around with AI-s) spme yrs ago my "main" race was protoss.
