2v6 BGH comp stomp is where its at. Prepare for AI glitching in order to win. That's how I had my fun slumming in BW.

It will basically be like learning a new game, the mechanics are insanely different and harder, but since your masters you will have less trouble than others getting used to it. You will get crushed for the first few (100) games, but once you understand the units and metagame, you will be able to hold your own no problem

Winning in BW is an amazing feeling.
It's a hard game but it's worth it.
When you lose, it just makes you wanna get better and then you are HOOKED.

Ok guys, if I understood correctly, he never played BW online, and taking into account that the D+ guy these days would crush a C+ of 5 years ago, which means the base average level has rised a lot, and that he still has to learn the mechanics and basic strats, the first suggestion should be: patience.
It is going to suck for the first weeks, maybe months, but if you keep up and catch up, it will be worth it. But if you are doing it just to take a little rest from SC2, dunno how long it will you get broodwar wise.

What? D+ guys might be better now, but they're still terrible compare to C+ players~

if you want broodwar to be fun, you should find a training partner on your level, and just play, look through replays together and just "study" broodwar together.
i had some awsome time doing that!

I personily find zvp to be a lot of fun because it is a macro fest most of the time. With both side maxed out a lot of the time, you can tincker around with almost every units.
|
Welcome. No, you won't get crushed. D- players are still quite terrible. If you can handle the pressure from players who build cannons in their base first thing and know the importance of macro you should be fine. I feel the the game's so much more enjoyable than SC2, I hope you feel the same.
|
OP .. you just have to remember making Drones and hatcheries .. and you'll be fine .. just teach to dark swarm and cracklings the hell out of them.

After a bit of practice and having done a bit of research a SCII master should be able to be able to beat D level players handily.

No way. Most probably a SCII masters player (after practice and research) will get destroyed by a regularly playing D player.
|
Depends on if the SC2 master has previous BW background. If he does, he may beat D players. If he doesn't, he willl most likely get stomped.

Im a master in sc2, but in BW im D- !!!

UMS (use map settings) games in BW are super fun (rpgs and challenges and wotnot) - you dont need to play competitive BW to enjoy it

Hello TL!
Played BW about 10 years ago offline, did the campaign recently. Gold-league scrub with Terran/Zerg in SC2.
I want to start playing Protoss in BW on ICCUP.
Is there a build that can be used in every match-up just to get used to the game flaw/mechanics etc.?
I'm not looking for an optimal opening, just something that does reasonably well in most situations and allows a transition to mid-game.
Big thx in advance! (don't want to start another "help the newbie" thread, and this one seems to be the most recent)

There are builds which can transfer fairly well between PvT and PvP (though not precisely, you'll figure that out), but PvZ is a 100% different beast! Have a look through Liquipedia, and identify some stuff to try. Your best bet is to work on some safe, dragoon-based openings (such as one/two gate expansion with observers) for PvP/T, and work on the Forge Fast expand aka "bisu build" for PvZ.
If you meet somebody on ICCup who is the same kind of level as you/a bit better, befriend them and practice together! It's rewarding, companionable, and efficient.
GL, see you winning the ISL in 2 years time
