NaDa and herO[jOin] were in Sydney Thursday afternoon, 7th Jan.
The opportunity to meet and play Korean Progamers greets Sydney-based StarCraft players, as two WeMade FOX players are here on a TV Commercial Production and photoshoot. The organisers are looking for competitive Aussie-based players to compete against the progamers as they are so far undefeated.
During their stay, they have team of local people making internet clips of behind the scenes of their photo shoot. The players are looking to play against top Australian players in Sydney in the afternoon (from midday onwards) on 7th Jan. after their photo shoot on Saturday.
We had 2 Korean pro gamers compete against two Australian NSW B-Team players (as the A-Team members were all held up or on vacation unfortunately) and about 10-15 onlookers who are clients and agency professionals for Korea Air and LG. We can accommodate 5 spectators in addition to the players, with time for photos etc.
PHOTOS See various photos from people who attended
The venue was Beyond Internet Gaming. Address: lower ground located Greater Union Sydney retail arcade. There will be photos, signatures, etc. all complimentary. I think BIG is the renamed istar.
However, if it is not a huge disadvantage for you to come to the LAN cafe and hang around to see if you can get a photo or whatever then do it, it may be worth it.
If you are going to be skipping work to try and get a glance at the players then I wouldn't do it as nothing is guaranteed
Autographs (in order) Unfortunately they had no time for additional autographs, just the few that we got for personal use or close friends.
TJ Shon, the production manager has said that there will be similar future events with other pro-teams with More players, more pro-teams, tournaments, prizes and more giveaways in Sydney and also maybe New Zealand and Melbourne. I will certainly keep you all informed as best I can.
City Hunter Internet Cafe II Haymarket Asst Manager:Aaron Li Capacity: 50 Terminals Address: Level 1,733-735 George St, Sydney NSW 2000 Phone: 02 9280 2080 Estb: 2004 Operating Hours: 24hours 7days a week
OH MY F###### GOD!!!! why do I live in Adelaide?? this is ridiculous why do Australian events always come with no notice?? this is like a once in a life time opportunity i would have flown in and raped nada with cheese hahaha
We have 2 Korean pro gamers and 2 gamers you nominated and about 10-15 onlookers who are clients and agency professionals. Too large a number of people is not possible as it will quickly become crowded/ We can accommodate 5 spectators in addition to the players, with time for photos etc.
Beyond Internet Gaming has been reserved Address: lower ground located Greater Union Sydney retail arcade.

Really not sure, also have to decide who is going to play him seeing all the first picks are unavailable. Just don't let yourselves get your hopes up everyone cos you may have to be cut.
Please leave information if you are 100% available:
What time you can be there from 12:30PM onwards iCCup rank PM me phone number and a first name (and also what you're wearing)
Might have to draw it from a hat.

The rest of you, I guess you can turn up but won;t be in there for the games and such - but if you show up there is a chance you can hang around and meet them but from the organisers they said no more than 5 spectators so I can't do anything about it if they turn you back.

epic, u have a starcraft superstar come but can have only 5 spectators, would be cool if they could hang out with u guys afterwards though
OK I will send messages to the confirmed speccies with information.
As for people who didn't make the spectators but might be able to show up, like I said turn up and try your luck unless you are missing something important like work to do it, as there are no guarantees!
As for people in other states, I promise that if I get more autographs or anything than for my own personal keepsake I will be giving the rest away if possible. Most likely this will be through a tournament or competition or just to super best friends. Again I can't make any promises but will keep people updated.
Obviously I can't make guarantees - as the players are on a tight schedule. However, what I am going to do regarding signed stuff is people from Australia (Aussies only sorry) can put their name down so I know how many signed photos or whatever I need to take and I will try to get as many signed items possible. Also - first in first served so if I only get like 5 signed photos then the first 5 get them.
Once I have the actual numbers I will get back to people tomorrow.

Roflno - white boy alert. With like 15 onlookers and professionals there I am sure some speak Korean, and the blokes I talked to spoke fluent English (with an asian accent).

Bring: Something for the players to perhaps sign, a camera, some cash in case you need to pay for anything at all.
Who: NaDa and herO[jOin] will be there with 10-15 crew involved. I will be there. Two Aussie players will be there 5 Spectators can come Other spectators can turn up but there is no guarantee they will meet anyone as unfortunately there is limited time and space.

only sydney? these guys should do a 1 week tour in the pacific region if schedules allows it!
Apparently Korean Air is the main client for the advertisement (which makes sense I've seen a lot of ads for Korea here lately...) and LG is a sponsor.

Fail. Hero might not be that famous but Nada sure is in Korea anyways.
A huge portion of the younger koreans probably recognize Nada from commercials or TV. He is the most accomplished Starcraft player ever after all. Also I think young nerds from all over the world who have the slightest insight into korean pro-gaming knows who Lee Yoon Yeol is. He used to own hard some years back.

black hair ?
black/brown hair, what do you roughly estimate age to be?
Pretty bad picture of me, but that hardly matters, ITS NADA! Sadly, things were pretty rushed so we didn't get to talk or play, but while they were playing their games, I was talking shit to the film crew that was with them. I might get onto Korean TV :D The games were pretty short, one sided rapes but everybody was having fun. NaDa seemed pretty softly spoken but polite, Hero didn't say much but seemed happy.
Some idiots who were also at the PC Cafe were saying shit like "Uhhhh Starcraft, that's old. Let's go play some Call of Duty, a real game!" but all in all it was a great day. I hope in the future more pros come to visit.
On January 07 2010 14:51 Kiante wrote: what do you mean by "I was spitting game to the film crew"? did nada speak english?
Nada said "See you next time" to me after our photo. As for the "spitting game", the film crew were just asking questions regarding our thoughts on Starcraft, that kind of thing. Nothing special. I was just joking around with them about how it was probably for the best that I wasn't chosen to play since I would beat them and make them look bad.

there was more than 5, a bunch of people turned up and started watching
Nada is a great guy i hear (my cousin is his friend). If I wasn't in the US right now, I would have ninjaed my way there... unfortunately ninjas can't teleport
Too bad the foreigner scene isn't big enough to be well-concentrated other than maybe capital cities, or I bet we could encourage them to tour and do more foreign stuff. As it is, though...
That looked super cool, though. Great to see they had good enough english to converse.
Hey it was great, as I went with pretty low expectations considering I started organising things at 9:30PM the night before and had to drive 3.5hrs from canberra to get there.
First some good news! Progamers will come back to Sydney!Other teams and players are set to be visiting in New Zealand, Sydney and Melbourne (reputedly) and in fact NaDa had visited Melb and NZ if I understood correctly. However we were informed that in the future more pro-teams are interested in coming out and there will be more notice on my part and organisation including booking an entire 150-computer LAN cafe, tournaments, prizes, etc. and I think I can get the lan cafe to give prizes too such as for hardware. I might drop the hint that they could have some pre-signed photos or cheerfuls for us so they don;t take up valuable time at the end. Also who knows but there may be possible interviews and we could take them gifts - we will have to wait and see if anything substantiates!
We started out nervously introducing and waiting for the guys cos the bloke at the front desk seemed strangely indifferent... Looked a bit emo or someth...
I just got back and am pretty tired - got called on my way to the gym last night and turned back, stayed up until 1:30AM trying to get some players to come and finally contacted Tung (LastSCV) and Shaun (Limp[KiS]) where the usual suspects for this kind of thing (fadetowhite, NrG.GoD- and Z.Kw) were all unavailable on vacation. Tung had to pull out because it was hectic at work, and Shaun turned up late because of work and poor Sydney parking.
So NSW B-Team teammates and roommates Tom (Sotanath) and Sanchez_ (sorry didn't catch your name mate but prob see you at uni some time), both around C- had to fill in.
To my best recollection the games went like, NaDa vs. Sanchez_ where sanchez_ took my advice and just camped with 10 sunkens well placed on andromeda. However we got to witness Progamer micro as NaDa fluidly busted it with about 16 mnm despite drones being pulled it was nice to see and pretty exciting. On the other side a desperate counter-attack by meching Sotanath saw herO lose a lot of drones on Desti but the damage had already been done at his base and he gg'd.
Next were the mirror match ups, which were painful as Sanchez_ felt herO's ling micro as he tried to get an early hatch in his main and Sotanath had the unenviable task of fighting off four cloaked wraiths in his main without an engineering bay or academy. Hopefully they remembered to get a replay or two.
We originally planned to have some Team Melee and 2v2s and whatnot but we really ran out of time. It was free admission to spectate and we got a bunch of signed stuff, though again due to time (they had a shoot booked for 3:30pm so we had about 2 hours) they had to head off.
I got four signed BW CDs by both players, and herO's signature on some paper. Unfortunately all of the CDs are taken by people who asked and for friends. Some of the other guys might have some spare swag but I think signing the shirt and CDs took a long time so there weren't many pages signed.
On January 07 2010 15:19 Roxen000 wrote: Glad you guys had fun.
If I had known this a while earlier and the spectator spots weren't limited, I prob would of flown from Melb.
Yeah I had a feeling it wouldn't be limited once he told me that they only booked out one corner, seeing as they can't stop you from just rocking up to the net cafe but I'd never been there before (as Lhyviathan can confirm by my incessant calling for directions) so couldn't be certain.

Sorry for the big pics, but I only had one and the new imageshack is confusing, here YunYeol and JunHo sign some loot as we all look on n_n
Some pics of the signed BW CDs and their respective soon-to-be owners n_n.
Close up of the autographs. NaDa's signature is pretty elaborate - a signature with a star at the end, his name in Korea, his ID in signature script and the date. herO's signature was just his name in hangeul and then his ID and date
Uploaded this and a few other short vids. Will add a few more later plus pics. Amazing day, pretty crazy for a couple of foreigner scrubs to get 1v1's in person with progamers like Nada. They were both really friendly and mannered, a korean speaker caught a bit of the interview with nada saying that we were very good players, which was just an outright lie lol. Our korean and their english was pretty much non-existent but the pre-game emoticon based chat with sporadic gg's hihihi spam etc was fun. The 8 sunken break on sanchez early in the first game against nada was also really cool but in the excitement the reply wasn't saved...
