its just really dumb to me why the call it sadie hawkins and how every1 at my school has to be like "ARE YOU GOING TO SADIES? I'm like wtf? YOU KNOW THE DANCE!!" Yeah, I know the dance. FUCK WHY CANT THEY JUST CALL IT THE DANCE WTF? -off topic: I find it very awkward that I have 16 total blog views as of today, yet this is my first blog entry, and I'm posting it right now.   | ||

Here it is if you still didn't understand. "The Sadie Hawkins dance is named after the Li'l Abner comic strip character, Sadie Hawkins. In the comic, November 13 was Sadie Hawkins Day, where the unmarried women of Dogpatch got to chase the bachelors and marry the ones they caught. The event was first introduced in a strip published on November 13, 1937. In the U.S., this concept was popularized by establishing dance events to which the woman invited a man of her choosing, instead of demurely waiting for a man to ask her. The first known such event was held on November 9, 1938. Within a year hundreds of similar events followed suit, and the tradition became a permanent fixture in some regional American cultures." | ||
