For those of you who are deciding to stick to brood war...
Remember those quake 1 players? Quake one's learning curve was similar to broodwar's, its speed was the fastest of any game, in any genre I've ever seen. If you think getting owned over and over again in SC is bad, expect a score of, literally 158:-7, in a 10 minute game.
Those quake 1 players who decided to stick to Quake 1, even though quake 3 was out, with the cpma mod, which sped up the gameplay, but still not as fast as q1, STILL play quake 1. Seriously, the quake one scene in Australia is quite large considering the learning curve and age of the game (10 - 20 ACTIVE players :S).
Do you want to be the same? Watching the years go by, while your community slowly breaks down, and it takes 30 min just to get a single game?
P.S. I'm not going to compare quake 1 to quake 2, because it would contradict everything I said =0

Yes, I've actually played it. H.O.T-Forever played Brood War, and it was slow as fuck. Brood War is not slow. he wasn't implying brood war is slow, he was saying SC2 is slow "the gameplay is not slow compared to brood war" Yes [sc2] is slow compared to broodwar i've actually played [ the beta version]. You completely missed the point. Saying its slow has absolutely no meaning right now. Strong players from other games played Starcraft/Brood War when it was still in its beta stages as well. Watching games from that era, the gameplay is slow. Obviously, modern Brood War is not slow. Even for players that have experience with other games, it takes time to build up the familiarity and aptitude necessary to play at a good pace.
if you quoted me ; I was merely just clarifying a post to another person. I honestly have no opinion on SC2; until after i give it a try.
if you quoted kwark ; meh ;obviously i wasn't a progamer back in 1998-2001 ETC, but i HIGHLY doubt they were "slow". so watching games from that era, the gameplay probably wasn't particulary slow, and what he said actually has some meaning =/

I'm really interested to see how the game evolves. Coming to TL.net and checking out new strats people come up with.
I wish i started playing SC back when it came out, when i started replays got released so i missed the whole "studying your games" coming up with new strats etc, which is what I like the most i think.
I love playing making stuff up while I do, trying out new stuff so i think that will be the thing im looking up to do. : ]

I have hated every single blizzard game except for Brood War. Blizzard in general simply don't make games that appeal to me and thus I don't really have any hopes for sc2. When sc2 kills bw (not if, when ) I'll probably pick up whichever TBS is biggest at the moment, or maybe age4.

if u stick with bw when u can at least TRY sc2, then it's like keeping dial up when u have the choice of upgrading to broadband(wireless only though)

The problem with SC2 is that they have leaders and designers from other games, suchs as company of heroes (awesome game but SLOOOOW) and C&C series. And the main thing they do wrong is to try make SC2 UNIQUE they cant, never! Realize that BW was made of luck, The bad pathfinding was not intended, the stacking, the non mbs all of the skills needed in bw is just adoptation to flaws that has become a succes. Just fucking make SC2 as i should be not Spacecraft... I bet when scII comes, we will have heroes, creeps and buildings/suppresion teams, upkeep and movable terrain also victory points...

Its going to be an AWESOME game, its Blizzard for christ's sake.
But I will 100% not play multiplayer, as I won't have enough time on my hands as either a) I will suck at it because of no planned time investment b) I will not suck at it, meaning Blizzard FAILED in making an exceptional competitive game.
Right now its more like decision between Poker and BW for me, rather than between bw and purchasing SC2
