I just finished portal. What a great game, although too short imo, took me like 4 or 6 hours but in that time I was like 100% concentrated on the game.

I wanted to find that cake sooo badly.

I was amazed by Portal. I played about 3/4 of it a few months ago in one sitting, but didn't pick it up again. It is very creative and well made imo. I'd describe why but I don't want to spoil it for people who haven't played it. It is mainly just a game that forces you to think.

edit: I appreciated some of the interesting physics tbh

I beat it in like 3, disappointed at length, but that was a dope 3 hours.

the thing i don't like is that it has like no re playability... i beat it in like one sitting when it came out and i played it again like 2 days ago and i beat it in like 1/2 the time it took the first time... i already knew all the puzzles.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Portal just a bunch of puzzles you have to use the two portal guns to interact with the objects and such to pass them? How could that take 3-5 hours? Also, why is this such a well liked game when this exact thing was in Prey, but Prey actually had a story line and hours of gameplay and was an FPS, yet no one raves about it?

I don't think it was intended to be a full feature game? It's just like a side game that I got in my Orange box...

Totally amazing game. Everyone who hasn't played it, should. The length is perfect as far as gameplay/story goes, but when it comes to feeding your appetite for game it falls horribly short. I'm hoping another installment of Portal comes eventually... I've not looked much into it, but last I heard they were making a Portal 2?

I don't think it's a detraction though since you shouldn't really expect to get much replay value from such a game. If you agree with that, then well ok.

Portal is a real game. It has a story and is probably the funniest game ever made (at least that I've played). The story is that you're a test subject in the aperture science facility and you are testing their portal gun and you go through several puzzles, and then there's even more after that (dont really want to spoil, but it gets really awesome the last half). It may be short but is part of a much bigger package or by itself is pretty cheap (i think $20?). And what's great is that the length is perfect for the style of game, because if it was any longer it probably would of started to feel redundant, no part of the game feels recycled at all.

And Prey kind of had portal stuff but it wasn't really any new sort of mechanic, it's portals were really just fancy doors. No real interesting gameplay mechanics came out of it. And Prey pretty much sucked btw. The 2 games are way different.

I believe there's downloadable levels, I believe I played a few spares for "expert mode" after you beat the game, so keep a watch on that, adds a bit of replay value to it.

That just makes the award an insult to any game that earns it afterward.

Great game, but definitely too short and easy.
And the outro is maybe the best ever.
