This goes to all you hardcore cheesers out there on ICCUP:

What do you feel, when you 5 Pool somebody on BlueStorm? Why do you do this? Do you really think you'll improve? Do you really think, that you can ladder up with cheesing? Does it feel like a deserved win to you? Do you feel satisfied, do you feel superior?

Please, let me see inside of you, for I can't understand you..

Sometimes after getting trashed by a string of better players, an occasional cheese allows us to regain our lost confidence and pride

That said, real cheesers never make it very far on ICCUP, and they don't have real skills or pride. Don't let it get to you if you get beaten repeatedly by cheese-men. Players who use cheese as their main strategy aren't playing SC and should just turn in their CD-keys :D

I read so many posts about Iccup gayness and I have never once been cheesed at all. I've only been drophacked twice out of like 60 games.

Everyone has played standard and straight up. Maybe I'm lucky?

75% of your games are cheese? Thats shocking. I have been cheesed once on iccup and I have played well over a hundred games on there.

I really mean it. No exaggeration there. The last 20 or so games were nothing but defending from proxy Gateway into DT or cannon rush and vs Z some 4/5 Pool. Now, there are things which are easy to defend, but I just don't know how to respond to a 4/5 Pool on BlueStorm..

Never cheesed on ICCUP as I dont play it that much. But when I win with 5pool it almosts feels better than a normal win. The feeling is just so great. Try it, you'll like it.

Nah, I really am very bent on improving as a player, because that's where I draw motivation from. Also, I'd have to think about my opponent, I mean it's no fun for him either. He's going to lose points, I won't improve, it's a lose-lose situation.

PS: Where in Switzerland do you live?

Tried 8rax/BBS non proxy? Not that bad of a build vs Z on BlueStorm even if he does not go cheesy pool and then you can always bunker too.
I might add that I dont really know what I'm talking about since I mainly play Z. I just like to promote BBS builds as I like to watch TvZ reps were T owns with that.

D- through c- I generaly eat. Talk on the phone. 1 hand craft and cheese. I see no reason to take an oppt serious and waste my energy focus on weaker opposition.

I was on the phone with my mom who is on the otherside of the country. I 4 pool 4 games in a row while we were talking ... without missing any of my conversation and won 520 points going from c- to c so that I could play some more interesting games ... it might be disrespectfull to play this way. But if somebody can't kill 3 lurkers with 10 MM then I don't want to play them anyway...

You know, I might understand this, but quite a lot of my opponents are like 100 APMers, and while I don't want to start any APM discussion here, this is quite low and I can't imagine them being totally superior players who just want to skip the D-range bullshit.

There is no cheese build on Blue Storm. You always know where your opponent spawns. Scouting early enough is entirely your chocie.

5 pooling on Python and hoping he scouts you last - that's questionable, because it depends so strongly on luck.

If you keep getting cheesed on Blue Storm, scout faster. 5th SCV, for instance.

Cheese is a perfectly valuable strategy. In any BoX game, if you can't adapt to an overly aggressive player, you deserve to lose.

I think cheese is gay as hell. But I have a fulltime job. Kid. Baby momma. BW vod obbsessions , forum obbsession and I bw addiction. I just don't have the time/energy to spend 12-15 minutes doing 200-220 actions per minute playing with my heart pounding when I can win this easily.

After C+ 4pool only works 1 outta four or five times .... its only done to get to a certain point. Or for bad players to maintain an inflatted ranking.

Yeah, but is it fun for you to 4 Pool? Or do you see it like some sort of gambling where you have a bit of influence? I could never draw joy from something that one-dimensional, I guess..

Well, I guess this is not so much of a problem. I rather see the solution in earlier scouting, because no matter how fast you are, some rushes cannot be overcome with all the micro there is..

OP: http://www.sirlin.net/ptw/intermediates-guide/introducing-the-scrub/

Please don't get angry at people for playing to win. They're trying to win, and if a 5pool will get them that win, why shouldn't they try it?

I don't see how it's even possible to lose vs 4pool on blue storm. Just scout at 9 and wall up the choke with SCVs so that he can only attack 1 SCV at a time. Hell, nal_ra defended a 9pool easily with only probes vs luxury, and it's even easier with SCVs.

'lame' is no excuse to lose to 'cheese'. Up your micro.

I 4-5-6 pool or do another purely aggressive builds ... 2 hat speedling > lurker all-ins ... (real all-ins) and such to just speed up the process. Bad players these days all are learning how to macro, If I can micro better then they can micro ... lets say I'm 6/4 in micro, 6/4 in strategy but only 5/5 in macro .... Why would I go for a macro war ... I'll go for a micro intensive timmed strategy EVERY time.

I think that the only time I had really consistantly cheesed on any ladder was both to:

The whole point of games like Starcraft are... well... you do what you can to win. And you know your opponent will do the same.

There is no agreement that he won't cheese you, or you won't cheese him.

There's a reason it's called "cheese" and is not a normal strategy: it doesn't work against better players.

Solution: get better and deal with it, or you'll never get anywhere.

I do use cheese strategies sometimes. And it irritates me that people complain about it. Why should I just sit there and let you 14cc? Isn't that a kind of a "cheese" if you sit there defenseless and pump more workers and not expect me to attack? Isn't it a kind of a "cheese" if you spend all your time perfecting your macro but can't micro for shit, and expect me to attack-ground?

If I cheese, it's usually because he did 14 nex or some stupid crap. I'm not going to let him outmacro me if I can stop it.

Cheese is also an efficient way to get past the D rank. 2 Port Wraith, Bunker rush, Cannon rush, 5 pool, 6 pool, etc are all ez wins against people who play too normal.

According to my P user friends, the act of starting a second factory before a second cc is cheesing in itself. SERIOUSLY.

Nah, not really. But where does it end? Just do what it takes to win. If that means learning to deal with cheese... yeah.

Nah, I think I know the right move now. I'm going to quit this game, seriously. I've been playing it for a year now and while it's kept me entertained during countless hours, it also did it's share of evil, as in keeping me from studying and going out and spending less time working out.

However, for the past month, I was playing a lot, like 15 Games a day, since I'm on holidays. But somehow any motivation is gone, since there's more frustration than joy, more drawbacks than there is gain. Further more, I've realised, that in order to improve significantly, I would have to invest more time into SC in general, which I don't have.

Therefore, if anyone is interested in a free, working SC serial key, feel free to PM me and I shall send it asap.

Cheesing is an art, it's a skill. It is really fun and a thrill to put the whole game on the line, to sacrifice everything that comes down to a few moments of attacking. Especially when you are playing good players, if you can win with cheese then it is an accomplishment in itself. It is also pretty micro intensive which is fun after you played so much macro games.

A few weeks ago i tried to play games that would help me get better, no rushes, no cheese but i ended up with like 0-10 losing streaks... so the next two or three games i would just cannon rush some poor Terran or Protoss just as a way to relax. It really helped me.

I never cheese. Well... Rarely mainly because if I want to truly improve as a player I want to improve the biggest aspect of the game. Macro. I feel that all in builds and stuff like that willg et you wins and will improve micro, but its missing the big picture of ICCUP. That is why I don't cheese. So to all you cheesers out there, I understand, it's how you play. I'll learn to defend against you guys and you learn to succeed against us. Either way it's risky.

4 Pool fails= game lost
4 Pool succeeds= game won

I've learned to deal with cheesers and I son't get cheesesd often mainly because I'm D Terran. Oh well.

If you played 3-4 games a day and then watch 2 out of the three or four replays on fastest and then watch 1 pro gamming replay/vod a day and payed close attention. You would improve. Playing alot workly works when you are at higher levels.

If you really enjoy and put full effort physically and mentally into a few games a day and enjoy it, you are ahead in the game of life imo vs people who play 20-30 games a day dreaming to improve ...

This is a sport, whether you are good or not, its a fucking dope ass game. I can't beat any NBA star in basketball or even college or fuck even decent senior high school player but damn don't I enjoy going out with my brothers and fucking them up in 21?.... catch my drift?

How about you stop complaining and learn to defend cheese. It's a way more satisfying win anyways.

when i host i alt+tab to an already open iccup.com browser and check their stats very quickly before i start, but not to dodge, just to make sure their games arent all -5 minutes (aka cheeser)
even if they are like 20-0 i dont kick them unless the above situation applies

Don't really know why your complaining. The only reason your going to lose to cheese is because you weren't cautious enough to be prepared for it. See it as a lesson to be more careful.

bitch you was only superior cause you played on only 1 map. Plus, I quit laddering around C- while you kept at it you busta.

Plus like 50% of my games were zvz which is fucking auto-loss doing 5 pool =[
