Monday 2/23:
Back in the saddle from yesterday's baby vacation. It was a lovely time, but I didn't accomplish too overly much. The wife and I caught up on some Misaeng and I did some only so-so practice, but overall it was a lazy day.
I did knock out a Blood Bowl Game in the afternoon however. I dominated my opponent for 15 turns despite terrible dice. I burned 3 consecutive RRs trying to pick up the ball with my AGI 4 warrior.... It was ridiculous. All the while his catcher was inches away from scoring. Made my absolutely crazy. At any rate, despite his crazy luck, I end up positioning myself to score. I only needed to complete one hand-off... of course it fails. My catch percentage was also 50% lower than average. So the ball scatters in the perfect direction to be picked up (on a 6+) dodged away on a skill-less 4+, passed and caught on skill-less 4+s.... I was infuriated by his luck compared to my 6 successive 3+ fails, but it was entirely my own fault. On the final play I could have set myself up better... Yes he was incredibly luck to get the tie, but I knew as soon as I'd set this in motion that the possibility was there... Oh well... live and learn.
Time to get my butt up and do one more practice session today. My initial one was good, but I really feel like I'm doing myself a disservice with only one session completed today.
Tuesday 2/24:
This morning featured another charming children's concert. The pre-K to K audience was a bit more out-of-control than usual and even with amplification attention was hard to corral and focus. The school only booked us for 30min segments which we were thankful for in hindsight. The kids just didn't have the attention span as other schools. I found this particularly odd though because the school today is highly sought-after in the area. Oh well.
Nailed Deadlift Day today! 5 on the 3+. Could've done 6, but didn't want to push it today too much. I want to start transitioning into working out every day and perhaps twice a day, so I just want to get to know my body. Another reason for not pushing the late set was that I know I'm not going to up the weight by 20lbs again this month, so I feel I have less to prove. The month after however is totally fair game :-).
I had initially planned on taking care of my car today, but with the wife leaving early for work and dumping a good amount of chores on my plate, I'll have to postpone that to tomorrow. Overall I'm pleased with today's effort!
Wednesday 2/25:
Just checking in really quickly before continuing to work. Today was a pretty good day! LISS cardio is up to 40minute segments. The Derek Howes recipe I made for dinner tonight was a hit! Beside not getting an adequate amount of quality practice in, I feel like today was largely successful! Tomorrow I'll improve on the practice front.
Thursday 2/26:
Bench Day was a big success! I hit failure halfway through the 5th rep of the 3+ set, so my benchmark for the lift is closer to true! This was the first time I've allowed myself to go to failure with the new adjustable bench I picked up. The height works out so that I can roll the weight on the spotter bars just above my bent head. I have just under an inch of clearance. Even though I practiced the fail procedure when I get the bench, it was nice to execute it without a hitch. I feel more confident in general with the lift now. I should practice the procedure with the squat as well....
Man oh man... I played a gritty little Orc team this morning that pulled out quite a win. In the first half, I pinioned the ball carrier and forced 4 dodges, none of which burned a reroll. All of that is well and good, but at several key instances I made positional errors with some of my players. Particularly two turns before the end of the half, I threw his Troll in the EXACT spot I shouldn't have. Oh man... he was able to open up the sideline and create an opportunity at the goal (the dodge of course succeeded). My bad. Oh well. In the second half, I bungled a foul opportunity against his Superstar which left me down a man, deep in my territory without the ball. A frustrating mistake, but one I will learn from. After this, my Minotaur proceed to Wild Animal 4 FUCKING TIMES IN A HALF! oh my god... He wasted to critical blitzes to boot, and pinioned my +STR Warrior in the process. Ugh... a rough game, but from which I can definitely learn.
Friday 2/27:
Morning concert was quite fun! The music director and photographer showed up to chronicle the series and the backdrop of the huge assembly of kids made for some good photo opportunities.
Had a pretty good effort on Squat Day today despite feeling a little weak.
Just finished writing up last D&D's session notes and did some prep for tomorrow's meet-up. Still want to do a little more, but I'm feeling better about where I'm at with it now. Have some good bad guys to throw in if the situation merits it. Also, I need to graph out the Spire they're approaching and lay the groundwork for the coming sessions.
Saturday 2/28:
Massive D&D Day!! Had an epic morning/afternoon session that just kicked ass everywhere.
Sunday 3/1:
What a great day! Nailed the crap out of a couple sessions in the morning, had some good self-hypno and played some Blood Bowl games in the open league. Played poorly and got insanely unlucky on the second of the games though :-(
