Monday 10/27: + Show Spoiler [Today's theme music!] +
Not gonna lie, today was pretty awesome! It was quite busy and not without adversity, but I was really happy with my focus and sticking on plan!
Last night's sleep was rocky and disheveled. I woke feeling with low energy and grogginess, but needed to make it out the door 10 minutes before the usual plan because of a particular perfunctory protocol at work. While it wasn't pretty, I got out the door and was able to enjoy work (as much I can). I have to spearhead a fundraising endeavor so juggling that new responsibility has been frustrating.
A quick and much needed nap was taken over the lunch break, and I launched into the meat of that day after. I knocked out an average dog walk, a Target run, hand-washing a load of delicates, two loads regular laundry, 2 hours of high quality practice, deadlift day (vids recorded!), and more mental prep. All completely devoid of video games until now. Felt pretty good to stay on target and accomplish everything.
The diet is progressing nicely again. Upping protein to ~1g for every lean pound is definitely helping my progress. Slowly but surely the pounds are coming off and firming up. At the end of this month I'll do another set of measurements.
Overall, I'm very pleased with how my life has changed as a direct result of this blog. When I started, I was struggling to keep exercise as part of my life and struggling with frustrations with my music- and work-life. While I'm not yet completely where I want to be, I'm enjoying the process and enjoying the daily ins-and-outs more. This public blog has proven to be much more effective than private journaling.
I hope I'm not inconveniencing or annoying the usual TL blogosphere with this appearing every week. Right now, I don't see this blog going anyway anytime soon.
Tuesday 10/28:
Fatigue in large quantities today.... again I didn't sleep well, but what is punishing me today is a double concert/rehearsal around a flag football game. I'm dragging right now and still have to practice and nail Press Day. Ugh, we shall see.
And I'm home and relaxing somewhat before my practice session for the day. Immediately upon arriving home, I landed on the couch for some hydration and blood-pressure medicine (gratuitous dog petting). I was beat and beaten up from the flag football game which thankfully we won. So after a slight respite and a small meal, I undertook some small errands around the house and did my press lifts. After blocking the opponent's rush, my press was markedly weaker and I was only able to hit 5 on my 5+ set. But my chinup is stronger this week! Was super happy about that.
Wednesday 10/29:
Holy shit!!! I just beat 20phoenix of BBTactics and OCC fame! This dude is a perpetual OCC Division 2, UKBBLeaguer, and a previous Big Crunch Champion! Granted he was playing an off-race of Khorne just for the heck of it, but man am I pumped!!! He offered some good suggestions once I freaked out a bit and told him I knew of his reputation. His Khorne outskilled me badly but I was able to muster a win after some solid hits in the first half. A clutch wizard kept him from scoring on the last turn, and then I pushed through him in half 2 for the win. He already had a nasty +MV daemon that opened up so many scoring opportunities.
Work this morning was a definite step in the right direction! I maintained ease and efficiency despite not being able to hear myself. Between the rehearsal and concert I knocked out mental prep and some good quality practice! Came home to some long stretching and a slightly longer weight-vest dogwalk. He was able to do 1.25mi this time. We're definitely going to have to ramp it up. At 25lb, the weight vest adds a bit to the work out, but I'm feeling like I could use a bit more. Before next session, I'll build the custom shoulder strap so it doesn't hurt to wear it at 50lb.
The TL-Fever Clan 5e will be launched after the double audition/tour weeks... it's going to be a crazy couple of weeks and I'm not going to be able to juggle it beforehand. Super pumped and planning for it has been fun!
Thursday 10/30:
A lazy morning of Blood Bowl and some minor house errands gave way to a productive afternoon. I failed to hit my protein goal for the day though because of a dinner at Five Guys. Tasted sooo good, but left me under the macronutrient goal. Oh well I was still good for calories. Bench day went well! 7 on the 5+rep set.
Friday 10/31:
Quick after the fact update: I felt good about the quality of the day, but need to curb my Blood Bowl play. I've been doing a couple Naggaroth Open games and they always tend to go longer than intended. If only fucking Cyanide was worth a good god damn and could program a matchmaking system that works as intended, I'd be able to play a game in an hour... But no... everytime you queue for 2 minute rounds, the Cyanide MM matches you against a bullshit Skaven 20sec/turn team. Fucking worthless...
Saturday 11/1:
Nailed Squats Day nicely. I actually did a math fail and ended up doing ramping my weights too quickly. Despite the overlift, I was able to get 7 on my 5+ set. Time to settle into a watching WCS and a housewarming party for some friends!
