I'm a professional musician and (very) amateur gamer.
Blogging about improving and sticking to a program is very effective for my overall progress!
Having been inspired by Haulvern, I hope this humble blog can motivate another someone in need of positive change.

Back from the busy weekend putting the nose to the grindstone! It's amazing how much more time and energy I have these days when I don't play CSGO or HS during the day. The intensity with which I approach those games definitely saps me of energy that could be better spent practicing.

This hiatus is only in effect for multiplayer games however. For downtime, I'm digging into my steam backlog of RPGs and loving them! Shadowrun Returns and Divinity:OS are both amazing! Divinity in particular has captured my attention. I've created little analogs for my wife and I and have been enjoying running through the world. It's fun to get her involved as she's enjoyed playing games together in the past. We've played through ~40% of Skyrim with her back-seat driving the action (and yes, that can be as stressful as it sounds).

A good day of practice was had late into the night! I have another baby audition in two weeks locally and some of the challenging excerpts that I approached for the first time today are solid and popping! Feeling good! I'll probably be launching mocks by Wednesday.

Speaking of Wednesday, that's the day of the next live DnD 5e session!! I'll be doing some prep and write-up for that tomorrow! Have a good one!

Belated update here... The day went by rather hectically as we drove an hour for my wife's birthday dinner. This had the added effect of compressing my calories for the day, so I was grouchier than usual early. It all ended well, though I let myself get sucked into D:OS a bit too much... :-/. Not going to happen tomorrow!

Knocking out everything in the time allotted is proving to be a challenge today! Right now, I'm frustrated at the lack of options for monsters in 5e for my party's current level. There are a wealth of lowbie 1/4 difficulty toons, but level 5 has like maybe 5 total... Ugh... crafting monsters from scratch is something I do not have the time do sadly so I think I'm going to have to flavor text a lot. On top of that, I'm feeling slightly underprepared for adding intricacy and depth to the politics of the deep-gnomes my party just encountered and coopted. I'm going to fly by the seat of my pants tonight if they decide to go deeper and explore the main city as opposed to scouting the drow stronghold more. We'll see... uuugh. First world problems .

Deadlift day was quite good! Almost wussed out and swapped in squats, but I stuck to my guns in the end. Goood stuff. Knocked out mental prep as well while waiting for my rogue to call so we can discuss his latest min-max contrivance :-).

A great day!! I started the day with the goal of 2 solid sessions of quality practice and my lifting routine before turning on the computer and it just propelled the day forward brilliantly. I was able to accomplish a great deal! Knocked out another session before the night's concert.

Somewhat lower energy and more withdrawn of a day. Had a couple good sessions, but nothing compared to the energy of the previous day.

Sunday 9/28:

Cyanide sucks my big fucking ball cake... God damn they have shitty fuckign US servers....

Today's Blood Bowl game versus one of the best undead teams was super close and interesting, but ended prematurely because of fucking Cyanide's inability to have stable servers.... I'll write more after our brunch date with friends.

Make sure your packing away good quality food if you want to gain the muscle mass. Or else all that gym work will go to waste. Good luck

Thanks dude! Most of the food we eat in house is pretty high nutritional value. Whole oats, good cuts of meat, whole grains (except for rice... chinese people hate whole grain rice). Any suggestions? Right now though, I'm trying to figure out just how much I need to eat to slowly lose weight. It feels like an occasional off-day or unplanned day sets me back 2 steps for every one forward.
