All vetoes and map picks need to be made before the matches. The player with the higher ladder stage ranking can decide if they want to veto first or second. The example order for vetoes is AB ABABC for BO5.
Example of vetoes for the BO5 match: player A vetoes a map player B vetoes a map player A picks the first map player B picks the second map player A picks the third map player B picks the fourth map the remaining map will be played in the decider match Once all vetoes and mappicks are done you can start the matches.
Grand Finals After picking the first 7 maps, each player picks one map (as repeat) to play the 8th and 9th match on.

id donate if i knew where the money was going. BSL 19 had only $5000 prize pool but ~$10,000 donated by sponsors at least, plus ~$1000/month on patreon. what was the rest of the money spent on?

That's a fair question, but few missleading informations.
BSL19 had $5500 total prizepool , with ~$3400 donated for the goal during BSL18 BSL20 has $4500 total prizepool , with ~$2620 donated for the goal during BSL19
Nazgul & Steve gave $3000 for each BSL19 and BSL20.
That means that in BSL19 from $6400 we spend $5500 on the prizepools BSL20 from $5620 we spend $4500 on the prizepools
From the costs perspective: Each season I pay for rtmp server, battle.net ladder, graphics, animations, casters, admins and probably more I forgot about. It's worth mentioning that I can't afford paying even close to what all those people deserve, for all the help and time they spend on helping run/cast BSL, but I'm trying to divide what I can afford just to let them know that I'm thankful.
Plus there are plenty of regular costs like taxes, commisions, running a bussiness fee (ZUS in Polish), webpage, tools like: discord premium, aitum etc. etc.
Not to mention that recently I had to buy new computer in order to be able to stream.
With $1000 (now $900) a month from Patreons I'm refilling what's needed for each season to run, pay regular costs and if there is something left, I'm trying to put it into home budget for all the time I spend on it.
I think it's also worth mentioning that patreon money is also spend to cover costs for other regularly run events like Nation Wars, Weekly tours, BSL 2v2 and more planned for after BSL20.
Full time BW didn't work, I came back to my job 2 years ago, but I still love it and believe - that's why you can see all those big changes and events running this year.
