Monday 1/12: This week's motivation:
Whew! Well while I wasn't able to accomplish as much practice as I had hoped, I'm happy with the efforts of the day. During the morning rehearsal, I received word that my transmission on my old Saturn had been successfully rebuilt. After a month at the shop, finally I can drive my own (crappy) little car again. With the wife pacified with a trip to Chic-Fil-A, we made the two-hour round trip to pick up the car. The transmission finally functions properly! For a solid year I've driven without a second gear without incident. The connector causing that issue decided to fail completely and leave me without a first gear. Bear in mind this was on the way to a concert... that drive and the subsequent trips to the shop were very exciting. Luckily I caught no hilly red lights.
At any rate, the trip cut my available practice time greatly. I kicked the crap out of Deadlift Day and completed my self-hypno, but didn't have time for much else. Right now I'm doing some latenight work with a practice mute, but it's not the same. The wife and I are also cheering on the Ducks!! We cheer them because she loves the fast-paced offense and we both share an irrational love of ducks. Having grown up in Big Ten household, I hate Ohio State with a passion. Works out perfectly!
I'll write more about the revamping of the mental prep routine later, but for now time to cheer!
Tuesday 1/13:
Double rehearsal this morning with a "business" lunch in between. I took a friend out to lunch to thank him for the moving the bench I bought last week :-). The rehearsals were pretty long and taxing... feeling tired right now. Did some mental prep after lunch. After returning home, I took the puppy out for a weighted walk. At ~20deg it was quite brisk, but he really needed the exercise. Good stuff thus far!

A quick check-in on a busy busy week! I just completed a concert featuring the piece in the Monday post and it was quite stressful as it was the second time I've played with the orchestra in question. The orchestra is one of the better ones in the area and the horn section in particular is quite good, so I put too much pressure on myself to play well. I did play well in the concert and the vast majority of the rehearsals, but the dress rehearsal for me was a bit rough. The concert went well today so it's all good.
When I get locked into a stressful situation like that though the first thing to go is keeping up on this blog and my practice diary. I feel like my perspective suffers because of that tendency. I did however manage to keep current on my workouts despite the 8+hours of rehearsal and 2+ of drivign a day! Currently deload week is up so I'm pushing through that. The middle of next week will begin the next upped weight cycle and I will be employing creatine for the first time! Kinda pumped to see how I do!
