Wtf... Ignore that he didn't put a game TL decided to cover in HIS blog? Madness, man.

Going pro in a team game is way more about who you know than how good you are. Unless you enjoy professional social networking, sc2.

sc2 because I love competitive 1on1 rts games. I dislike team games. Easy pick.

You may also leave reasoning in the replies below. Poll: Which game would you pursue?Starcraft 2 (43) 67% League of Legends (21) 33% 64 total votes Your vote: Which game would you pursue? edit: ok you guys seem to think this is asking which one I should go pro in, that IS NOT the question. It is asking which one YOU would. and clearly this is assuming you are passionate enough about the game to pursue being a pro gamer
You are asking this on a Starcraft website. Sure they have other sections, but just reminding you where it was tailored.

Even that's a bit of a stretch. You need to either join or already have a really good team and to be on the top? It's pretty hard to stay at the top of LoL. Azubu is just finding that out now.

Well if you are only diamond you pretty have close to a zero percent chance of being pro at either. You might as well be a real man and play dota or scbw instead.

I voted for LoL so I can blame my team when I suck.

LoL because dat money and seems a lot easier to have success.

LoL because it seems to have a greater long-term casual market potential with new champions still being added. After the final SC2 patch of Legacy of the Void, the casual market will probably enter a slow decline to some kind of plateau. That and LoL is an easier game. I mean the top pros don't scrim 5s exclusively, they can often be found streaming solo queue. LoL seems like the better option both in terms of job stability and in terms of chance of financial success.

SC2 because I hate needing to rely on others in a team game

There's a lot more individual money to be had in SC2 and it's a lot more accessible. Most (>50%) of LoL's tourney money comes from the hugeass Riot tourney that you will NEVER make it in and another dominant chunk big/presigious tourneys. Very little small/community money. IN SC2, there's daily/weekly things like playhems and Z33Ks that you can try to make some cash off of. League has some too afaik but a lot less and, again, less accessible. There's things like open bracket (not anymore I guess) at MLG which is relatively "within reach" and a lot of small tourneys to try to place highly in. Not to mention city-wide LANs with like $300 prize pools.
For LoL, you're going to need a stable team to try to be at all competitive, which I know you're not going to do. You're going to need to network a lot to find scrims/practice partners, which is really difficult. "Just laddering" in LoL isn't going to get you far. There are more tourneys for SC2, higher player earnings, and it's a lot more accessible to practice since ladder cant take you to inches away from the top level.
But from what I've read from you so far, I'm 100% certain that you aren't going to make it absolutely anywhere with this progaming thing. I just hope that you try to do the reasonable thing and change your mind. A lot of people "think" that they want it but you're going to become very disillusioned, very fast. At worst case scenario, play on the side until you're at least in grandmaster league. Waste your time Play a few hours a day but keep on with your life responsibilities. Until you're there, don't even consider "going pro." YOU WILL NOT GET ANYWHERE. AT ALL. Sounds cynical, but it's the truth.

i decided not to take a leave of absence, but just drop my micro class and continue onward. i dont want to make a mistake

I would kill myself if I had to play lol all day, so sc2.

Will always pursue a career in broodwar

I doubt I would ever go pro, regardless if I was good enough. The money in esport is just too bad and irregular, and since I'm already fulltime employed at a company doing what I went to college to do, I would basically be throwing my career away just to dick around with something which is obviously fun, but worse from an economic standpoint.
That said, if I disregard that, it would depend on the situation. If it's "you're good enough soloQ in LoL to be on a team", that wouldn't be all that great, because the big teams are full so I would need to find really good players and start a new team... if it was something like "you would immediately become a EG member in SC2", that would be kind of sweet since I could live at their teamhouse and learn to play with them etc.
Overall, it's a bit too farfetched if it's going to be attractive. Just being good at the game is far from enough, you need contacts, a good image etc. Being an awesome player without a team just means you're wasting talent.

Bored to death playing SC2, or having to support dota-like communities all day long. Neither ! But I guess it's easier in LoL to at least win some cashprize, with all the weekly tournaments. As a diamond, I mean.

Gee, I don't know that it is particularly wise to be saying that for a game with a far larger playerbase and, by extension, far larger viewership for their top tournament, compared to SC2. :/
