I would like to think that I am a traveler. According to the TravelBrain app on facebook, I've been to 8% of the world's countries. I like to think that I am an adventurer, a learner of new experiences, an explorer. Having said that, I have also never been apprehensive or scared to take on a new world, new challenges and to meet new people.

But as I pack to spend the next year of my life in London, England, I can't help but feel really quite anxious and even nervous about my move. Perhaps it is because I'm leaving my doggies behind, maybe it's because I'm sad to leave the friends I have here.

Doggies helping me pack. Kinda.

But whatever it is, I haven't been able to brush this feeling off. It's actually kinda starting to worry me. Is this the first sign of me growing old? Am I settling?

I think I'm due for some change. Having been in Seoul the last four years has made me complacent with my life. Sure, I've taken small holidays here and there but I feel as though I haven't had much personal growth. I've grown comfortable with my life and my position in it. I was a pseudo SC:BW caster, translator and interviewer while being a teacher and educational consultant and a girlfriend.

And this comfort is what I don't want, I guess. So here I am, on the move again.

I hope that England provides me with some answers and hopefully more questions to keep me on my toes, to make me hungrier for life and to keep searching for whatever it is I am searching for. To keep things whole and to someday, become whole myself.

"In a field I am the absence of field.
This is always the case.
Wherever I am
I am what is missing.

When I walk I part the air and always
the air moves in to fill the spaces
where my body's been.

We all have reasons for moving.
I move to keep things whole."

-Mark Strand

-----------

tl:dr - I'm moving to London so please stop messaging me about meeting up in Seoul. Thanks.

There is a fine line between nervousness and excitement, you can't really have one without the other. Besides, feeling anxious about leaving things behind means you have created something worth holding onto to. It seems Seoul has treated you well (those dogs are adorable), I am sure London will do the same.

Holy crap, you'll be there for the Olympics! You lucky bastard

Good luck

What kind of dog is that on floor?

Coming from someone who loathes moving, vacationing, traveling, changing jobs, or anything beyond unexpected weather... your travel/adventuring sounds exhausting!

Omg, the U.K? TAKE ME WITH YOU ):

In any case, my honest opinion is "wait & see". That's my motto, why worry about something you can't distinguish, label or understand?

Wait and see how London is, how you find yourself within, etc. You probably already know this, but I'm terrible at reassuring others.

Let's meet up in London Since you already have a place to stay, I'm pretty sure you will do just fine in London. Granted, I haven't seen much of it yet myself but a globetrotter like you will definitely like the cosmopolitan vibe. Think of it as a new chapter in your life.

You're moving to London but not staying with Midian? Will you be studying there (as you're moving in to student accomodations)?

Hi Susie, sounds like your life is awesome! I'd love to move around all over the world, in fact I'm trying to figure out how to do that as we speak. I have a pretty good paying job (~50k/year) but I'm bored and getting complacent like you said, I want to see so many places!

I don't know if this is too personal, but what do you do for work/living? How do you manage to travel so much? Any recommendations for cheap/free ways to live in foreign countries?

edit: Sorry about the dogs =(

Moving is always hard. So much baggage you leave behind physically and emotionally. But be pragmatic. Some doors close, other doors open.

You can always go back to Seoul. Some doors never close.

I will totally be down for a TL Meetup in England.

I work in Education. Usually I'm busy as hell between June and Jan but Feb-May is pretty much free. I'm a teacher sometimes (usually test prep) and I consult Korean parents about the US education system. And now I will be a student, thus moving to London. Living there has been a dream of mine for a few years now and realized that being a student is the best way.

When I travel for holidays, I either stay at cheap hotels or with other TLers

Let's meet up in London Since you already have a place to stay, I'm pretty sure you will do just fine in London. Granted, I haven't seen much of it yet myself but a globetrotter like you will definitely like the cosmopolitan vibe. Think of it as a new chapter in your life.

Haha, I'm pretty sure once I get into the swing of things I'll set up some London TL get together ^^ We can all meet up then.

you better not become too busy for us nerds with ur fancy london life (best of luck obv^^)

Spit out my coffee. Now I have to clean my keyboard again.

Enjoy the travel! And the rain. Especially the rain.

Made it into "sunny" England. The dogs were not eaten, thanks, just some tears and doggie kisses.

When I read this:
And this comfort is what I don't want, I guess. So here I am, on the move again.

This is what instantly came to my mind

Anyways good luck moving, I hope you have a good time living in London.

Welcome to London I guess, I don't know what Seoul is like to live in, it seems pretty nice, but I think London is a pretty great place to live to so enjoy your stay.

What/where are you studying if you don't mind me asking?

London can be a really great city at times, I really hope you enjoying studying in London, and I would be totally down for a TL meetup, I would try and get Pholon and flicky to come too.

What uni you studying at?
