I've had this awesome idea: I love mountains and lakes and idyllic rolling hills, I've grown up in Switzerland and have nationality, but I've still never gone further East than Kandersteg.
I want to go explore, but I don't know how or where to go; TL HELP!
Please give me suggestions of good places to visit, stuff to see and do and any tips and tricks you can share, I'll update this with my itinerary as I go. Ah yes, and best of all I'd LOVE to meet up with any and all TL people in Austria/Switzerland.
Current Plan:
I plan to go next week, ideally starting Monday or Tuesday, and come back on the 4th, so Monday to Friday. I've got a good friend down to go with me, and he speaks German (the main impediment to this adventure in the past), so I was thinking we'd kinda go back-packing and buy an all-rail pass.
Stuff List:- Go to [Where-ever blubbdavid lives]
- See Austria Alps and Rolling Hills (WHERE????!?)
That's it for now, please help make this awesome guys because I have no idea what to do, yet I'm still really excited to go on this adventure [:

I live near Innsbruck. The city offers plenty of historic stuff to see, a zoo with alpine animals, and other random attractions like the olympic ski jump. It's surrounded by mountains, so if you're into some mix of culture/sightseeing and hiking, you can spend a few days.

Go to Malans near Landquart on the way to Chur and take the Älplibahn up the mountain, you can reach really nice mountain lakes from there, and walk downhill back to Malans. I used to do this as a kid, really beautiful place.
Or maybe you would enjoy the beatiful wallensee, a bit more west from Sargans, really nice mountains reaching out of the lake. Thats where my friends and me hang out in the summer.
My third tip would be the cresta see near trin (before flims/laax), nowadays its kinda touristic, but it remains a really beatiful lake in the forest. It was kinda a secret tip when I was a kid, but now you have a kiosk and grillplace and such stuff. Cost is about 5 CHF. This is the other lake we use to hang in summer. Make sure to try the rope swing at the other side of the lake (not kiosk side)

Definitely Braunau. And Karinthia is beautiful with it's lakes.

I'll be leaving for Austria in about a week and I don't know anything about the country, either. We could all meet up, too.
