on Monday reported that an online Sony gaming network has once again fallen victim to a cyberattack. This time, the attack may have exposed the credit card numbers of thousands of Sony customers from around the world. According to the report, over 12,700 customer credit card numbers were stolen during a breach of Sony’s online gaming network, Sony Online Entertainment. According to Nikkei.com, Sony discovered the possible attack on Sunday. Sony recently suffered a similar attack on its PlayStation Network, which was offline for days as a result of the breach. Though Sony has yet to confirm this new incident publicly, the Sony Online Entertainment portal has been taken offline while Sony investigates the matter.
I dont even know what they are going to do anymore. This is getting outright ridiculous. I'm certainly glad I do not own a PS3. I mean, I could sort of be okay with all the peoples names and address' being taken, I mean, it's not a HUGE deal. But now all of these people are getting their credit cards stolen? Sony better pick it up before they completely defame themselves.

Apart from the fact that you need an account to play FF11 on the ps2, it has nothing to do with the consoles.
But of course its quite sad, as all of these accounts probably had valid email addresses tied to them for paying for the mmorpgs.

Yeah, I thought it was a little iffy considering PSN is free. I thought it had to do with something more subscription based in their games. Nonetheless, almost 13,000 credit cards is a ridiculous number. I wonder if anyone here has had this happen to them? I doubt many even know about it yet.

Indeed - that's what you get for the SW:G combat update :o

Oh dear, I REALLY regret purchasing DC:Universe now .. I really hope Sony sorts this out. Their reputation is going further and further down the drain.
Curious to see what their excuse is and how fast they respond.

This is THE SAME attack. Read articles and posts by sony please. This is the same attack, but they just found out this info was taken from a separate database (old outdated one from 2007 or something)
