Hello,
I have been playing Starcraft 2 and of course listening to day[9] for a while now, but I have had trouble "getting into" the game. Recently, day[9] did a Newbie Tuesday about "getting into" Starcraft 2, in which he suggested as a major step forming a group of friends to play and watch Starcraft 2 with. This, according to him, helps to make the experience more social and interesting, helps you invest yourself more in the game, and provides additional motivation to actually play. I, not knowing of any way that I can form such a group other than by posting here as he suggested, am doing so. I hope that I have not wasted the time of any who read this and wish you all a good day.

Yeah, I think a good thing for this thread would be to just to put your approximate level and ingame info. I know there is the practice partner thread, but I think that applies more to serious players, instead of those just starting out. I know theres prolly not that many bronzies that feel like they're looking for a "practice partner" I know I'm just looking for some friends to play online with. and thats what community is all about.

I just wrote a blog post expressing my interest to make some friends in the community, as well.
I am going to be working on my play this week, and I probably won't go online for a couple weeks (until I have built up my confidence a little).

Yeah, getting friends is definitely a key to having a lot of fun in SC. Recently me, darkzane and another friend just played an hour or so of monobattles. I can't remember teh last time I had as much fun in SC2.

US people, join the buddiship channel in the game. People started that channel after watching that daily. Lots of great people in that channel. Lots of customs and such.
Also, the practice partner thread is useful. Go through the last 10 pages or so and everyone around your level then message for customs. Practice partner thread is here.
Finally, add me @ spacemunkee.797. I was a bronze Terran but switched to Zerg this week. Note though i won't be on for the next week because I am off to Vegas for a week.

I also just watched the daily too, I want to get better at this game but i have only one other friend who plays it but he's more of an acquaintance than friend.
I sort of just started, i used to play Wc3 but i was one of those guys who loved custom games so i find it hard getting into actually playing sc2. I do not know what race i should play, so i play random for the time being, but i am sort of leaning towards Terran for a few things, but i like things from other races too much, i love zerg but i am not a big fan of macroing a lot so it doesn't seem to be the race for me. I am trying to play more often but i get distracted waay to easily while browsing the web xD
I would like to play/ practice with new players to the game.(don't know if this matters, but i'm 14m and if you have skype it would be nice to talk while playing)

I've read a few pages of this thread, and also watched the Day9 Daily that covered getting into SC2. I don't think I have any problems getting into the actual game, it's more having more than two people to practice with.

I realize this thread is long dead, but the purpose of my posting is exactly what this thread is about. So I figured I'd bump this one as opposed to start a new one.
I am just getting into SC2. I have been a fan for a few moths and have watched streaming games here on Team Liquid. I am now getting into playing. I would love people to play with and learn from. I know there is a great community of gamers and I am interested in being part of that community.
