This.
You're going to go to the night session at the US Open, sit in the upper deck where the fans are generally rowdier and probably have a few beers in them by the time the men's match starts and expect to not hear any swearing? It's not the royal box at Wimbledon, ffs.
And then you respond to this "uncouth behavior" by getting into a shouting match? I reckon the guy must have said something to provoke the woman to slap him but it's pretty clear she was the instigator in the confrontation.
The older guy has nobody to blame but himself really, regardless of what the younger guy may have said. A) He's half your age and appears fairly fit; I'm pretty sure he can take you. B) Stadium seating. One shove, you overbalance and potentially smash your head into the concrete floor. Risk vs. Reward people. >.>
In the younger guy's defense, he looked fairly horrified when grampa fell over the seats in front of him. It looks like he pushed him off reflexively.

On paper, in the safety of your house, yes, I agree you think you would be able to resolve a dispute through words. However, experience shows that when someone is talking huge amounts of shit to you and then suddenly places their hands on you, you may not be able to control the urge to strike back. It's basically just one of those things you need to experience. Sometimes it's just too much and you can't control yourself.
except more than half of the poll says they would hit her back?
That guy's boss. I love his pompous motions and general body language. That's how you settle arguements, not by tripping down several rows of chairs trying to combat someone three generations younger than you.

I'd like to hear some arguments for that besides "that's what society taught me" and "political correctness"
when a girl hits you, you know she's just pissed off at something small and wont dare to try it again. when a guy hits you, you know he wants to kick your ass.
Over a slap like that I wouldn't do anything - if I had a way to make her regret it I would make use of it, but if she punched me in the face for instance, I don't care what her intentions are and I won't wait to know, if I don't punch back, I will at the very least push her away pretty hard.
Fine that was just one slap but I've seen girls throwing their fists around and digging in the guy's flesh with their nails - and while he could just turn around and deck her in the face to get it over with, they oftentimes just try to get away - and they don't run because running away from a girl would be even worse for their ego.
Lol for what? To pay an attorney to win nominal damages in a civil suit?
It really depends on whether I would hit a woman. Generally no but I've learned that circumstances tend to dictate rather than some set principle.
He was assaulted by 2 people. He could make pretty decent money AND put idiots back in their place. I would probably do it. They'd probably be better off just handing him $5000 and say we're sorry for being idiots.
Ya. As much as I hate the "I can do whatever the fuck I want" attitude of the younger guy, he didn't do anything wrong. The videos show that he just wanted to be left alone, and it's his right to swear and do whatever he wants to a certain extent.
If the older couple had a problem with that, they could have brought it up with security, and security could have just come over and checked out the situation, maybe told him to try to watch his language, or even moved the old couple to another seat, which it seems like there are plenty open ones up there.
To the topic of this thread: - never hit a woman who slaps you back. never hit a woman who slaps you back. never hit a woman who slaps you back. Also: never hit a woman who slaps you back. The only difference is if u are clearly right and she is just being a mean bitch, in that case: never hit a woman who slaps you back.
To the video: - The young guy is cool. -I hope the old retard who jumped him for no reason got injured: thats what u get- - it is good that the fat bitch is now officially shamed for being an aggressive fat bitch; i hope many of her friends and coworkers saw what she is. Spread the video so they will know. - the reaction of the crowd just shows how retarded and biased people are. The same thing happened to me once a long time ago when I was riding my bike and a fuckwad in a wheelchair rammed me for no reason. The people around me just assumed it was my fault and were like "look that mean kid rammed the poor man in a wheelchair" without having seen anything and I had to get the fuck out.

I kept thinking of the "come at me bro" guy for some reason. I seem to remember someone saying we humans have an overdeveloped adrenal gland and underdeveloped frontal cortex...well something like that. Might help to explain this kind of behaviour. Not to change subject more but it's interesting I saw a fight in baseball between two players a couple days ago, which I thought I'd never see
btw never hit a woman is just riddiculous, deserve to be treated like a lady deserve to be treated like an elder thats all. patience has a limit and this guy reached it.

I personally think this only makes gray shirt guy's refusal to use violence that much more impressive. It's a testament to America's rampant (and often wrong) stereotyping that the old man pulls the guy by the head, and the crowd rushes to the old man's defense instead.
To all the people who are trying to blame the guy for not calling security, I don't really think it would be a stretch to try and avoid bringing in security. That would probably mean more hassle and perhaps neither of them would get to watch the game.

That would be fine if it had no violence, but it had, and it resulted in that major mess. The ideal would be getting security the moment he got slapped, it usually happens silently, really.
Don't know if I would stoop to that level of hitting her back. Although I can't see myself getting angry over something so small as cursing. I mean it's a game people are going to yell. Also theres a thread on /b/ they currently have her info and business address; raid is unavoidable.
