I believe that most people who are posting their teams in the discussion thread have failed to notice that you're allowed to make trades each week and that only 6 teams play each week. Seems daft to not make use of the trades and try to select players each week from the teams you guess will win.
So here's my selections for week 1:
Fuzzwah Fighting
Main Team 2 Ace I think that startale will have an easy win over FXO. Ace is sure to play and is a steal for only 2 points.
5 Alicia SlayerS vs MVP will be tough, but even if SLR lose I suspect Alicia will take a game or two. Again, a steal at only 5 points.
2 BoxeR Its BoxeR FFS. 2 points, bargin. Combined with the fact that I'm tipping SlayerS anyway.... EZ
5 July Arrrh hello? Only 5 points plus the fact that I think ST will easily win, simple choice.
8 LosirA (captain) Can't trade out the captain so I wanted to pick someone I figured would get a lot of games when their team did play. From what I've researched LosirA often opens for IM. Better to pick an opener than an ace match player.
1 Parting Had to find a 1 point player from ST (because I think they have the easiest win), Never even heard of this guy, would be awesome if he was a shock inclusion
3 Seed This one was actually a mistake. Sigh. Younghwa would have been a better 3 point selection from IM.
2 Yoda Cheap IM player. I didn't want to put all my eggs in the ST basket.
8 Incredible Miracle Even though I've been saying that I think ST have the easiest win this round I went with IM for my team selection. Because I'm not very logical.
Anti Team 7 sC I expect f0u to get beaten, sC hasn't been playing well but will definitely get a run. I think he'll lose his match.
3 Sheth FXO would stun me if they were able to even take a match from ST.....
3 Twilight FXO would stun me if they were able to even take a match from ST.....
Next week we have:
TSL vs Prime - big match, I think I'll lean towards Prime.... but points distribution may result in me going TSL. Since aLive and Trickster seem to be better value than MarineKing and Polt....
FXO vs ZeNEX - Lets see how badly ST stomp FXO and then I can decide if they have a chance of beating anyone....
NS Hoseo vs fOu - I don't know anything about NS Hoseo, so I'll have to do some research.

two things 1) there are already threads on this, i think...but then again this is more like an explanation 2)your anti team is going to wreck you if anyone gets wins from FXO it will be QXC Sheth or Twilight... and sC is a sick player

As I will win for sure anyways I'll give you another advice. You can only trade for worse player, so of your player fail this week you wont even be able to get good players for next week. You're welcome.

I went the completely opposite route on FXO, decided to pick up a few low cost players (Sheth and Twilight) for the high probability of one of the two acting as the team's ace, and underrated chances to take a few sets off of Koreans. Plus FXO plays like the first 3 weeks so if they perform even adequately there is no need to trade them and those moves can be spent elsewhere.
Sheth played July very close at MLG, and has stellar ZvP. Twilight is a Korean with loads of experience practicing in Korean pro houses and despite being on a foreigner team with very low expectations from fans I wouldn't underestimate him, especially considering I wouldn't be surprised to see him be the team's ace player. If ST throws their best player out first (Bomber) all bets are off and I wouldn't be surprised to see him all-kill, but I doubt they'll use him until they have to against a foreign team. The rest of their roster isn't terrifying imo and they can all be defeated by one of Sheth or Twilight. July, Ace, Squirtle, Rainbow, and Virus are hardly untouchable in my eyes.
edit: BoxeR is 2 points because he never actually plays in GSTL, not because he isn't skilled enough to warrant a little higher cost. And July is severely overrated in my opinion. 5 points for a really easily sniped player (throw out your best ZvZer - cya). I'd be surprised if he strung together more than a few 2 game streaks through the course of the entire season. Unless something dramatic changes with his ZvZ.

Why not pick up HuK who is simply at 1? The only fear is that HuK never plays or gets overshadowed (then again, OGS doesn't play til week 3).
My cheap IM is Happy.

Trading for HuK week 3 is just a no-brainer. I'm sure one of my 2 point players will lay some major duds and it will be an equivalent exchange.

1) I stuck this over in blogs because I didn't think anyone would read it. I didn't want to really advertise my thinking too much
2) The more I research the more I'm kicking myself about writing off FXO completely. I do think they have some strong players, but just expect that they're going to find the step up to GSL level difficult. sC seems to make crucial mistakes.....

I really didn't expect anyone to read this let alone reply with in depth counter thinking. Thanks a heap! You've made me feel like I really don't know much about any of this (which I don't, but I do love watching GSL).
