And what does 'put me on the BYOC' mean?
BYOC means bring your own computer. and only 10 people can bring computers so it just means put me on the list before the spots get filled.

no one has a comment on my last post?? some of the maps in the map pool are getting kind of old and aren't really played anymore, such as scrap station and testbug. it would be awesome in my opinion to update the map pool. i really like the map pool for the IGN proleague, incorporating a couple of the new GSL maps as well as some of the MLG. any thoughts??

one last thing i want to add is there was a little dilemma last event with some lag issues possibly changing the outcome of a game. and there was no rules in place yet to deal with this issue and you said we'd put rules in place for the next tournament. correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure the rules in major tournaments that if lag or like screen going balck or something happens and the ref's decide that it did change the outcome of the game then the game should be replayed. if a person was way behind(determined by refs) and lag happened then it doesn't really matter because they would have lost anyway. same for a dc if it can be decided that 1 player was substantially ahead and someone gets dc'd ref's can rule it a win or loss but if it was a close game and there's no clear winner then the game must be replayed.
also last even i'm not gonna name any names(and pls no one else either) but the person who had the lag issue didn't pause the game or anything because he said he thought he could recover from it. then brought it up after he lost the game. this is alittle sketchy generally the rule is you pause right away and say something. if i recall the pause procedure is you type "pppp" as a warning that you're going to pause the game before you do. (or i believe some tourneys don't even allow you to pause when you type ppp the ref's actually pause it. but since there is no ref in each game this procedure isn't practical)
so i just think there needs to be rules to prevent things like this in the future. again someone with more tourney experience than me might know the rules better then i do this is just what i recall hearing about the rules.

As for making the map pool deeper: I say add in some Blizzard Ladder Maps to make this event more accessible for newcomers who just ladder.

This^ But to not get bogged down on details these are the additions I would suggest. - Players can pause the allotted 3 timeouts per game so fix shit that breaks down. - Nothing will be reversed after someone has clearly gg'd.

Will work on this today and tomorrow I hope to get Equip Failure situations/rules worked out.

I will be coming again for sure! most likely xNmemcpy as well.
|
Wont be able to come this time. EMT school is eating up my life. Good luck to everyone
|

Needs more hype!
Bigfoot networks sent a Killer 2100 network card as a prize. About a $70ish value.
So NOS, Bigfoot and Frontier as a sponsors for this event!
We need to keep this growing to get more sponsors! Going backwards means sponsors stop trying!!

can you take me off the byoc list my computer broke and i'm not sure i'll have a new one by the tourney.
also i can't believe no one has a comment on the map pool
|
thats good idea jdizz but i think making the map pool simplier the better. adding 1-2 maps would be more reasonable i think.

Map pool seems to have been updated to be the MLG map pool...
For the organizer or people who went in March: What's the skill level like at this thing? I see KawaiiRice & Cecil in the March pictures ... would Gold/Platinum/Diamond players have a shot at doing anything other than losing their first match then losing in the first round of the loser's bracket?
|
Others on this thread are better at answering that then I am, as I dont know the ins and outs of the gold/plat/etc system.
I guess I would say the point of coming even if you do not have a change at "winning" the event, is for the experience.
OnLine != LAN Events from an experience standpoint. LAN is the only way to get LAN Experience imo.
We have players from all skill groups at the events.

So this will be my last post and check up on this thread until after the tournament also.
I personally am on Vacation from tonight until May 10th and will not have internet access while in Panama.
Rick (Convict) from GameClucks will be at the event and running it, but I doubt he will check this thread or the GC email.
POST on the GC Forums if you have specific questions and he is pretty good at checking those.
We have some decent prizes for the event in addition to the cash so its well worth making this a BIG EVENT!

Yes! We need more people to show up! It's soooo fun =) !
|
Just trying to keep the thread active so maybe more people will find out about it. /bump
