I'll definitely be there, and i'll actually play this time for sure. Put me on the list for the byoc pls and make sure there's extra grape nos :D
Hmm I can not edit the Title/Subject to make it say just the 30th...
i'm pretty sure you have to ask a mod to do it
So just clarification question, all I need to do is show up the day up to register? and the BYOC reserve is a spot to bring my own computer?
Yes and Yes
Possibly adding another sponsor -- Frontier
what does everyone think about adding a couple GSL maps to the map pool. such as Tal'Darim Altar, Crevasse, and/or Terminus RE and maybe getting rid of maps like scrap station and switching to the new shakuras plateau?
Wish I could go, I got finals then though, I'll be able to go to the ones in the summer though.
Alright well sign RevNewtonz up for a BYOC please, and I'll be bringing a friend but I doubt he'd be bringing his computer.
Could possibly show up for this as my debut SC2 LAN tournament. ;D
And probably fail miserably...
._.

i would like to be in the tournament i can BYOC please reserve me a spot on the list sounds like a sure way of getting some SC2 fun. thanks.
So can someone clear some of my questions? I'm 16, and live close enough to attend this tournament, but is there ANYTHING else I must bring besides 15 bucks? Because it always seems like I miss a necessity when I attend events like these, lol.
Can you put me on the list, I would love to come , and hey, aren't you the guy doing all those awkward interviews at MLG? hahaha
And I can't bring me computer, sorry. Too heavy
And what does 'put me on the BYOC' mean?

$15, money for food and your own gear if you don't like using provided stuff.
What KawaiiRice said.
I always recommend Keyboard, Mouse and Headset, just because ours are used by dozens of people, so may not always be 100% working, which could cost you a game in theory.
Hm, i really plan on attending just dont kno if i should bring my laptop or not. Its pretty good but the vid card tends to give out on me sometimes, something i really dont want to happen during a tourny. But i assume your PCs will run SC2 well, atleast medium graphics?(low is unplayable for me and sorry if i sounding a bit ignorant here, i havent been to a lan in bout 8 years)
And when you mean the other 10 PCs "as needed use" means that first come first serve?
Please add me to the BYOC reserve slot list.
im excited for the tournament. Think there will be a decent number of ppl showing up cluck??

if you can play on a regular keyboard i'd say leave ur laptop at home ur right it would be very bad if ur laptop crapped out mid tourney. All 20 pc's at gameclucks can run sc2 at good graphics just 10 the pc's have alittle better hardware. it doesn't necessarily mean first come first serve it just means since 10 of the pc's aren't as good they'll only be used if needed such as in earlier rounds when there are alot more games that need to be played.

BYOC means bring your own computer. and only 10 people can bring computers so it just means put me on the list before the spots get filled.

no one has a comment on my last post?? some of the maps in the map pool are getting kind of old and aren't really played anymore, such as scrap station and testbug. it would be awesome in my opinion to update the map pool. i really like the map pool for the IGN proleague, incorporating a couple of the new GSL maps as well as some of the MLG. any thoughts??
IGN Proleague map pool: MLG Metalopolis MLG Shattered Temple MLG Shakuras Plateau MLG Xel’Naga Caverns GSL Cross Fire SE GSL Crevasse GSL Terminus RE GSL Tal’Darim Altar

one last thing i want to add is there was a little dilemma last event with some lag issues possibly changing the outcome of a game. and there was no rules in place yet to deal with this issue and you said we'd put rules in place for the next tournament. correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure the rules in major tournaments that if lag or like screen going balck or something happens and the ref's decide that it did change the outcome of the game then the game should be replayed. if a person was way behind(determined by refs) and lag happened then it doesn't really matter because they would have lost anyway. same for a dc if it can be decided that 1 player was substantially ahead and someone gets dc'd ref's can rule it a win or loss but if it was a close game and there's no clear winner then the game must be replayed.
also last even i'm not gonna name any names(and pls no one else either) but the person who had the lag issue didn't pause the game or anything because he said he thought he could recover from it. then brought it up after he lost the game. this is alittle sketchy generally the rule is you pause right away and say something. if i recall the pause procedure is you type "pppp" as a warning that you're going to pause the game before you do. (or i believe some tourneys don't even allow you to pause when you type ppp the ref's actually pause it. but since there is no ref in each game this procedure isn't practical)
so i just think there needs to be rules to prevent things like this in the future. again someone with more tourney experience than me might know the rules better then i do this is just what i recall hearing about the rules.

I'll be there again. Sign me up for a BYOC. Thanks GC!

IGN Proleague map pool: MLG Metalopolis MLG Shattered Temple MLG Shakuras Plateau MLG Xel’Naga Caverns GSL Cross Fire SE GSL Crevasse GSL Terminus RE GSL Tal’Darim Altar I think keeping the map pool consistent with MLG is perfect, since for an Open League, MLG is the biggest thing in NA right now. As for making the map pool deeper: I say add in some Blizzard Ladder Maps to make this event more accessible for newcomers who just ladder.

This^ But to not get bogged down on details these are the additions I would suggest. - Players can pause the allotted 3 timeouts per game so fix shit that breaks down. - Nothing will be reversed after someone has clearly gg'd.

Will work on this today and tomorrow I hope to get Equip Failure situations/rules worked out.
I will be coming again for sure! most likely xNmemcpy as well.
Wont be able to come this time. EMT school is eating up my life. Good luck to everyone
Debating on whether I should come again or not. I might depending if I can get my friend to come with me.
Needs more hype!
Bigfoot networks sent a Killer 2100 network card as a prize. About a $70ish value.
So NOS, Bigfoot and Frontier as a sponsors for this event!
We need to keep this growing to get more sponsors! Going backwards means sponsors stop trying!!
can you take me off the byoc list my computer broke and i'm not sure i'll have a new one by the tourney.
also i can't believe no one has a comment on the map pool
thats good idea jdizz but i think making the map pool simplier the better. adding 1-2 maps would be more reasonable i think.
Map pool seems to have been updated to be the MLG map pool...
For the organizer or people who went in March: What's the skill level like at this thing? I see KawaiiRice & Cecil in the March pictures ... would Gold/Platinum/Diamond players have a shot at doing anything other than losing their first match then losing in the first round of the loser's bracket?
Others on this thread are better at answering that then I am, as I dont know the ins and outs of the gold/plat/etc system.
I guess I would say the point of coming even if you do not have a change at "winning" the event, is for the experience.
OnLine != LAN Events from an experience standpoint. LAN is the only way to get LAN Experience imo.
We have players from all skill groups at the events.
So this will be my last post and check up on this thread until after the tournament also.
I personally am on Vacation from tonight until May 10th and will not have internet access while in Panama.
Rick (Convict) from GameClucks will be at the event and running it, but I doubt he will check this thread or the GC email.
POST on the GC Forums if you have specific questions and he is pretty good at checking those.
We have some decent prizes for the event in addition to the cash so its well worth making this a BIG EVENT!
Yes! We need more people to show up! It's soooo fun =) !
Just trying to keep the thread active so maybe more people will find out about it. /bump

bleh. i'm actually going wine tasting this coming weekend

GL everyone!!

Well, what the hell, if I get facerolled twice in a row, I get facerolled twice in a row. I'll be there.
Hi everyone. I'll be running the tournament this weekend (and playing in it too) I am a bronze player so watch out!
We have 20 PC's currently set up for the tournament, plus I will be setting up some extra tables so we should be able to squeeze in 20 or so BYOC setups as well. If you want, go ahead and bring your own, even if you aren't currently on the signup list. We'll try to make room for you.
Doors open at 11am and all PC's will be available to play warmup games, so show up early and get some practice in.
Even if you are new to starcraft, this will be a fun tournament, so show up and play. You will get to see some great games. I guarantee there will be bronze level players competing in this tournament (at least one), so don't feel like its only for the top players.
Ya people, don't be scared=P I have seen plenty of diamond players beat masters and so forth.
I plan to attend but I have another important series I have to play at 5 PM or so (I believe it's just 1 bo3). Hopefully I don't hold up everything (but I usually wait like 3 hours anyway so I guess it should be fine)
i understand if you cant make it kawaii. No need to push yourself
I might come to this. How long do these usually go?

I wonder if thundertoss is going to be here this time :O!
Its a double-elimination, best of 3 games per match tournament and we are expecting about 40 players. So for about half of the players, the tournament will be over after 3 or 4 hours. For those who make it to the finals, expect to play till at least 10pm, maybe later.
By the way, we will also have the NOS girls there handing out free energy drinks and doing body shots. Well not sure about the body shots, but they will be there handing out free drinks for sure!
Rick, just wanted to confirm that I"ll have a space reserved for casting as always =]
yes edward, we will have plenty of space for casting plus chairs set up for viewing. Also, if you have a way of showing the featured game on our 32" tv's, we can set that up as well.
Not too late to join the tournament. no pre-registration needed, just show up. i'll be there around 10am.
I'm planning on coming up from Olympia if anyone is looking for a ride.
FEMALES ONLY. 19-20. MUST HAVE MODELING BACKGROUND.
Guys can come if I still have room after loading up my car with models.
