One year has passed since since Cameron 'fams' Carson last interviewed Chris 'Huk' Loranger. The two caught up shortly after Chris's TSL3 loss to have a chat about his time in Korea and a bit about the past year of his life.
Long time no see, thank you for taking the time to do this interview, how are you doing?
Not bad I guess, despite doing badly in the TSL everything else is going well and I'm posting results I'm content with so ^.^;.
It has been one year since we last spoke like this, and it's safe to say a lot has changed over that period of time. I guess the thing that started your year off on the right foot was when you left Millenium and joined TeamLiquid.net. Could you tell us why you decided on them and not a different organization?
To be honest the two teams that ended up making it to the "finals" of the tournament to sign HuK (me) were EG and Team Liquid, and now that I've been in the team for a while I couldn't be happier. I really don't think there is any other team that compares to Team Liquid.
Then, shortly after joining TL.net, the decision to move to Korea was announced. What were your initial thoughts of being asked to go to Korea to live there, seemingly indefinitely, to play Starcraft 2 professionally amongst Koreans. This is something not many foreigners have been able to do successfully.
With both final teams I wanted to go to Korea to compete, I wanted to be the best and still do. Korea is definitely something people have to really think about before making the decision to come out. To many foreigners have come and failed or just not had drive to do their best, which is sad.
It was also big news during that time, that NaDa was going to be moving to the oGs house and training with you guys. To my understanding he does not live there, and only comes by a couple times a week. Were you disappointed about that? How often do you get to play with NaDa, and in general, what are practices like in general?
I'm not really disapointed as much as I understand his thoughts behind his decision. I mean no one else in our team really has the same unique situation he does being how old he is, how long he's been doing this, and his priorities. I really can't say I play with NaDa a ton, but he knows I'm here for him if he needs TvP practice or anything in general, other then that he really doesn't practice that much; but when he does he rapes pretty much everyone...
