One year has passed since since Cameron 'fams' Carson last interviewed Chris 'Huk' Loranger. The two caught up shortly after Chris's TSL3 loss to have a chat about his time in Korea and a bit about the past year of his life.
Long time no see, thank you for taking the time to do this interview, how are you doing? Not bad I guess, despite doing badly in the TSL everything else is going well and I'm posting results I'm content with so ^.^;.
It has been one year since we last spoke like this, and it's safe to say a lot has changed over that period of time. I guess the thing that started your year off on the right foot was when you left Millenium and joined TeamLiquid.net. Could you tell us why you decided on them and not a different organization? To be honest the two teams that ended up making it to the "finals" of the tournament to sign HuK (me) were EG and Team Liquid, and now that I've been in the team for a while I couldn't be happier. I really don't think there is any other team that compares to Team Liquid.
Then, shortly after joining TL.net, the decision to move to Korea was announced. What were your initial thoughts of being asked to go to Korea to live there, seemingly indefinitely, to play Starcraft 2 professionally amongst Koreans. This is something not many foreigners have been able to do successfully. With both final teams I wanted to go to Korea to compete, I wanted to be the best and still do. Korea is definitely something people have to really think about before making the decision to come out. To many foreigners have come and failed or just not had drive to do their best, which is sad.
It was also big news during that time, that NaDa was going to be moving to the oGs house and training with you guys. To my understanding he does not live there, and only comes by a couple times a week. Were you disappointed about that? How often do you get to play with NaDa, and in general, what are practices like in general? I'm not really disapointed as much as I understand his thoughts behind his decision. I mean no one else in our team really has the same unique situation he does being how old he is, how long he's been doing this, and his priorities. I really can't say I play with NaDa a ton, but he knows I'm here for him if he needs TvP practice or anything in general, other then that he really doesn't practice that much; but when he does he rapes pretty much everyone...

I didn't realize Nada didn't live at the house. It's amazing that he is so good without much practice apparently.

Anyways, great interview ^^

Very nice interview. Would have liked to hear about VT HuK, but that's probably a chapter to just avoid :B

Great, thank you for dong this.

Very good interview!
You asked interesting questions, and the perfect length. Well done sir.

Nada, not practicing and raping pretty much everyone.
Bold thing to say. Wonder if its true.

Well, I don't think it is entirely true. I mean NaDa doesn't practice a lot considering he has college/university (yeah I still don't know the difference between them ._.) but when you see him play, his skill level is high and he is able to compete with the best regardless of him not making it to the finals yet. I think its safe to say that NaDa has owned everyone in the house at least once, even MC lol Imagine how good he would be if he actually practiced.

Thanks for the interview.

He's probably not doing so great at school? LOL. I wonder what his grades are.
Nada mentioned in one of his interviews that Hyperdub goes to Korea University (probably top university there). That's even crazier. But he's dropped to Code A now.

I think in an interview he said he was gonna practice less to get his grades back up to par. He wanted a 3.0 GPA if i'm not mistaken(might be wrong, dunno) I also don't know what GPA is. Average grade I assume.

Was it common knowledge that EG wanted to sign him? Or was that just now brought up by him in the interview? If the latter, then that's not very professional

It's also amazing to note that Nada is INCREDIBLY good for how much he practices, which HuK says is not very much. He would be top Terran if SC2 was his main priority.

Fascinated by the NaDa part. I would love to know more about his schedule. I'm really impressed he can be where he is with that. Certainly blows the stereotype of older gamers being worse out of the water (if WhiteRa hadn't already done that for you, lol).
Massive lol @ IdrA/HuK. I wasn't into TL until closer to release and didn't follow as closely until then, so I don't really know about the HuK clan choice stuff, unfortunately.

I wonder if how IdrA and HuK would get along if they were both on the same team. IMO good choice of going with TL over EG. Both are amazing teams but I think the oGs/TL House is a much better practice environment than what IdrA had. If you would of chosen to stay in NA, EG might of been better. Amazing interview Thanks!

Just to point out a possible error:
Under one of the photos you put he was posing for a photo at dreamhack, when I'm close to certain that it's at GSL. It was after his first GSL, hence the GOMTV logo in the background, and he hasn't done a dreamhack since he adopted that haircut I believe.

I don't see huk vs idra as a rivalry. I see it as idra randomly singling out huk to hate long ago and huk basically defending himself. Sure at MLG huk made idra look stupid, but thats after a lot of shit talk from idra in the past.

I couldn't agree more and personally I think its just getting his nerves under control and confidence up during live events(the bigger you act the smaller you feel). Watching Huk play on ladder and on tournament is a HUGE difference. So once Huk can relax, have fun and just enjoy the games he will be top 16 regularly I believe and should be a top 3 protoss in gsl.

I like HuK, especially for his Canadian sense of humor. Some other players *cough*greg*cough* just don't seem to get it.
I guess in time people will catch on to Canadian humor, but for now keep doin Canada proud HuK!
Just an example: + Show Spoiler + Say you start a game and say your general gl/hf/whatever, and the opponent replies with "Fuck You" or something of the sort. Canadian Humor would be replying to that "Love you two" or something similar. Basically replying to them in the complete opposite way to their poor attitude.

It's just idra trying to grab a bit of attention away from Huk, who idra doesn't think deserves it. It's petty. I generally enjoy watching idra's games, and when he was in Korea, I rooted for him as hard as I root for Jinro. But when he does things like this, it makes it hard to see beyond the petulant child he acts like and see the brilliant SC2 player he is. For someone who came back to NA because he "wanted to help eSports grow", he could do a lot by simply treating other people with respect. Or at least not blatantly doing the opposite with no good reason. Totally agree, that post seemed like a bitchy little school kid And yet, No warning, ban, temp ban or something of the sort.

I fucking love HuK. I can't ever see him leaving the minds of the community.

I was one of the "haters" who thought HuK wouldn't be around for more than 4 months since he used to go 7 warpgate all-in almost every game. Glad to be proven wrong.

when everyone is good mannered and respectful, things become boring and personalities fade. The best thing IdrA (and, for that matter, HuK) can do for e-sports is to keep doing what he's been doing--causing controversy, making enemies and rivalry, amping up the drama by making it personal. From now on, whenever HuK and IdrA play it will be a deathmatch, and something everyone pays attention to. If these guys just played nice and said what they're "supposed to" all the time, it would get old.
well...actually, thats the 2nd best thing IdrA can do for e-sports.
The BEST thing he could do we be to ragequit to another fake army, becuase that shit was hi-larious.

Nice interview. I'd love to give him a HuK.

I read the title as one night in HuK
But yeah, HuK is awesome!
