I had a school deadline for a group project yesterday at midnight. We had to actually physically turn in a copy on the science campus before midnight. Mannered as I am, I sacrifice myself to do the 20 minute bike ride in the cold at 11.30PM on my own.
20 terrible minutes later I arrive at the computer sciences building. I put my bike in the stalls and walk past the windows to the door, when suddenly a horse gets my attention.
No kidding, a horse. All I could see from behind the window was 3 guys sitting behind their laptops and a TeamLiquid logo covering the replay bar of a TSL game.
I print off the assignment and turn it in and stop by the 3 supposed SC2 players and start a conversation. One of them was playing WoW (i think) by now so I started feeling a bit cocky and challenged them to a 5 euro game. I think he felt confident, but my confidence scared him away for a brief second. I threw him a bone saying he could pick my race. He snapcalled, added my account and I think smiled when he saw my terrible ladder record.
I biked home to my computer, logged in, was forced to play TvP and 2-0ed him. Yay 5 euros! We talked a bit more, apparently he was an ex wc3-player, a huk fan and in my class lol.
This is the first time I encountered TL in my direct environment, and considering this website was just a playground for bw fans back when I first joined, it kinda confronted me with how sick big TL became.
Just thought I'd share, since I've always liked reading the "yo dude from xxx, i saw you in a tl shirt, who are you?" blogs.

My lab assistant (ph.d. has to supervise labs and doesn't seem to enjoy it) is always really tired and sometimes even falls asleep, so I asked him why he's so tired once and found out he's a SC2/BW player. Apparently he was in the habbit of watching proleague at 5 in the morning and catching all the GSL vods in the evenings. :D
Same in my last workplace, I found out 2 people play sc2 and we've been playing a lot of team games.
And in my classes like 5 people I got to know later turned out to be playing sc2.

At my old job I was frequently visiting TL. And one day I walked around and saw that almost everyone had TL open as well. Only one of them played Starcraft the rest of them was just here for the "Random pics that make you laugh"-thread
:D

This is the proper way to handle the situation when you find out that classmates play SC as well and need to get stomped. Money Money Money

That's hilarious you hustled him like that! Props to meeting more SC2 players and TL members!

Semi-related to your blog, I've encountered many TL/BW players in real life, but 1 sticks out. At my university in ENC1102 (2nd english class), this guy was always eying me. After a while it was annoying, yet I said nothing. So the 4th week of class comes along and he says "are you Game?" which I interpreted as "Are you game?" so I was like "wut?". At this point he asked me if I was Game from Starcraft... This would've not been creepy or awkward at all if he had not just looked at me all f*cking day in class. But, it sticks out to me because it was indeed very awkward.

Getting a TL shirt has been the first thing on my list whenever I have extra money available for a pretty long time now, in hopes that someone will recognize it and speak with me! But I'm a really poor student... the last two things I bought were a new mouse & keyboard because my old ones were really bad (mouse) and really broken (keyboard).
I can't wait for the 2nd of next month when I get some more money!

My math TA asked for our CSL team's rep pack. Maybe I should have hustled some grades from him...

He played a passive 2 Gate Void Ray in to expand against my 1rax cc. Not a true HuK fan imo.

I just proved meeting TL people can be profitable. A TL Shirt seems like a worthy investment to me if you live in a student-rich area
