i remember back when the strategy forum was actually really good. Chibi was always getting banned for some borderline pedophile crap. Hotbid would be cooking up another big troll thread. Frozenarbiter somehow had time to post in almost every thread and have something good to say. Motlkeywarding would come into some political thread 15 pages in and rape the shit out of it. Religion threads were 30 pages long. Baal thought he was the most badass motherfucker ever. Normal money vs fastest money discussion. then all the regulars GrandInquisitor, Manifesto, Nazgul, BigBalls, thedeadhaji, GTR, Fakesteve, Plexa, Incontrol, Leg, Midian, Rekrul etc lol
the days when there were no streams and i would F5 in the live report thread. the days of reach nalra boxer kingdom gorush nada iloveoov july savior then all the fuckin awesome highlight videos that came out every year. fuck
so many new guys around TL now and the old ones left =(
And semioldguy! He mailed me my first TL horsey shirt!

The oldest TL memories I have are all about trying to get the stupid Daum player working.

I fucking HATED that thing when I would try to do live commentaries and it would just randomly crash... blehhhhhhhh.
I lurked the site till around '06 when I started getting back into BW. I was a huge BW fan in '98 till '02 when WC3 came out and I played that a ton then realized over time the game had no where near the skill that BW had and went back. Went to Blizzcon that year and finally saw my Protoss hero Nal_rA play on the main stage with Nick and Marcus casting. They inspired me to start casting and I did my best!
Oh the good ol' fights of non-TL casters vs TL casters. Kinda wish Klaz was still around but he moved on to other things, as did many casters. I'm glad Marcus is still going strong though, if anybody is to be applauded for his work in ALL aspects of e-sports, it's him. I'm also glad he's starting to really make an even bigger name for himself. He deserves the spotlight more then anybody. (Including Nick, Dan and Sean, sorry, I'm biased I guess =( )

So many fountain pens! I don't necessarily feel like an old timers, but I didn't create an account 'till a year or more after frequenting TL so I suppose I could feel older. Did beat the SC2 wave and remember pringle's maps.

Hahahahahahah!! Oh man. I hated Daum so much.

pfff, oh yeah i think i joined with my previous account somewhen around 03-04 ... there was no sc2, no streams, no TLPD, no TLFE, no small VODs thread, no broadcasts of major leagues ... but there were sweet livereports (multiple reporting at a time, PoP was my favourite reporter and much later Day[9] with all CAPS MADNESSS, OMG, YEEEES, OMG), sweet aftermatch game reports with pictures and stuff, fucking Boxer, Nada, Pusan, Nal_rA and Julyzerg (like, who the hell is Savior?!) and many of you guys, who just made it so good to hang out around the site ...
Crazy times. I have the same feeling, that i belong only to a very limited number or threads and forums here...
PS. if any of the admins read this, i would appreciate a lot, if they trace my previous account, which was either "Rand0mHer0" or "Small" and joined around 03-04 and was banned around November 04 (during WCG finals i guess) and tell exact time when i joined TLnet

sc2.org was my savior. Then there was afreeca which totally sucked... GOM player was shitty as well. Now that I think about it, everything but sc2.org sucked
TVants that what I was thinking of. man that was horrible

i agree, sc2.org was like a heaven, but omg i remember livereport threads with screenshots appearing almost in real time ...
that shit was impressive ...

Did anyone end up using chinese streams like yaoyaun (spelling) or something of the sort? I remember one stream have some crazy chinese commentator casting over the normal korean commentators, and he made just about any caster I've heard seem bearable to listen to.
Anyways, everyone in life eventually moves forward, and even if you do as well, there's always a part of you that reminisces in what has been. Sometimes you just have to accept that things will never be the way they were and accept the good with the bad.

Me too, I really regret not getting into BW till like, '09. And even then I didn't know very much at all...

I joined pretty late too. And since I have joined TL has changed so drastically (march 09). And much less whining. Still everything must evolve.

I only got into BW because of my bro showing me Cholera's Reach comMANtaries XD. From then on, I started to learn about other English commentators (mostly the sc2gg guys), then TL, then all of Korea + the players, etc.; I missed out on a lot of years of BW, and it's kinda depressing, but I'm definitely glad I'm here where I am now. It's crazy that I was actually able to witness the change in TL though, I still can't believe SC2 has taken off so much, I definitely wouldn't have expected this when I first came here!

I hooked up my laptop to a TV and enlarged daum player and thought it was pretty hot shit. These days, some people refuse to watch in anything under 720p.
And when StarCraft 2 came out and I was like "omg omg omg there are like FIVE streams with SC2 gaming action all at once"
Oh technology. Joined in 2009 here, lurked since 07.

When I joined back in '04 there were still people like Casper..., Veg, Leg and a few others as regular posters who seem to have vanished nowadays (at least Leg you see occasionally). Still, TL really geared up in terms of talented and ambitious staff members and therefore the site has become better and better over the years, even if the small "family community" also had its merits (when you still knew the 30 or so people who would take part in a discussion).

TL rocks, hard to keep up with modern times though

The first streams I remember were accessible only by some IP that you have to enter in windows media player and then pray to be lag free. Still have it in my phone - 212.202.0.47. Maybe from 2003-2004. In the beggining there were no streams, only live reports
