it's not something that you can all of sudden get into you should join a lot of tournaments first and if you're good enough teams will take notice btw i'm sure private schools would've taught you how to spell professionally

It's not just playing whenever you feel like it, and travelling around the world. I mean yes, that sounds freakin' sweet but it doesn't quite work like that. I'm not even saying forget the idea completely. Just don't make it your only option. Qxc has a lot better chances to make SC2 as his career, but even he is studying. Just please don't waste your life. I love people who chase their dreams, but then you need to do it smart and with a plan.

Somehow I don't think this is the career you're looking for.

Now, from my life experience, believe me...you won't know what you wanna do for a living now, hell, I'm 21 and I don't have a clue yet, just a general field idea so far. Try some other things out, don't set your eyes on being the next IdrA or InControl. Just focus on the fact that you LOVE Starcraft, and figure out why, then consider applying it to other career areas. I'm working to become tournament level, then I'll see where it goes. MLG is a new thing that will bring eSports to the western world, along with NASL. Keep your eyes on them, and play the tournaments. One day you might reach that goal, or you'll find something else that sparks that passion that Starcraft has for many of us, follow it, and keep doing Starcraft. Just remember, not all musicians go professional, not all inventors make a living off it, and not all gamers will become professional. Look at Tasteless and Artosis. They don't even do tournaments anymore, they cast, and it is good. Keep your options open, but let Starcraft playing be a quarter of your career focus, look at other options in Starcraft to make up another quarter, look at video games in general as another quarter, and find another interest for the last 25%. This will spread your interests around, and might even help you find a place in the world for work that will be fulfilling and enjoyable. Your potential cannot be measured, at least not at this stage in life... Now...in that reply I have posted, do not take it as me going "you'll never do it, don't bother" but rather interpret as me saying that it's not at all unlikely that you can reach this goal, but be very prepared for a backup plan. Key lesson in life I have learned, is always be prepared for the worst, while striving for the best. Hit me up anytime if you're on the NA server, character code is Creegz.872.

I know I don't have the skill set behind it, and really, I don't see myself doing it unless I improve insanely and quickly. I am improving at a rather rapid rate at the moment, but I still don't see it being practical. Make sure you have a backup plan, and keep playing a lot. Find a niche that you enjoy. At your age (almost 6 years ago for me now) I wanted to be a pro CS player. I was quite good at the game, and I really enjoyed it, but I knew I needed a backup plan. Find something interesting to you, and study for it while playing, and competing. At least then you won't be disappointed if it doesn't work out, or takes a lot longer, you at least have a fall back plan.
