You're welcome ;]
dem mutas will always keep you coming back for more BW
ill be watching your stream often and glad to have you back I may actually have to start playing more bw myself, also I would be down to play some games on west aslong as there are more than 3 people O.O

banelings can go under burrowed bombs and bomb drops. dropping onto massive banelings can kill a lot of them (like zealot bombing except now its ontop of baneling).
initial banshees can do a lot of damage. so many games have i seen with banshee taking 10+ kills and banshee micro @@
dont forget the sentry. i mean trapping units with forcefield and then easily killng them? That may not be as satisfying as popping units with reavers but its the same OPness all over again.
Hellions also do good splash damage to workers. i remember a game where the workers were sliding out of the base and here comes hellion all workers gone in 1 sec.
blink stalkers are pretty OP too. too fast -_- and cant kill the stalkers since they all blink away
anyways, i can keep going but i guess it doesnt matter. both are two different games so its hard to compare. i enjoy both and find both good games.

ahh Sad[Panda] , Sad[Panda] is a viewer that was new to my stream yesterday, and he is actually the reason that I became inspired to play Zerg in BW, after winning like 10 games in a row due to his suggestion, I found a new love for Zerg, so I owe all my thanks to you Sad[Panda], you should change your name to Happy[Panda] because you made me happy xD
EDIT : Lokian yea true but I'm not really trying to compare SC1 and SC2 in terms of which game is better, only which game that I enjoy more, I guess some of the things I said could be portrayed as that i'm bashing SC2 or Zerg balance, I don't think SC2 is badly imbalanced at all, it's just these crappy maps that make it so hard for Zerg IMO... T_T

I feel like it's not very productive to argue about bw vs sc2, obviously everybody has their own opinions and they're going to differ. you have valid points but that doesn't mean everybody is going to agree with them, at the same time a lot of people will. My only question is about what you call the "staleness of maps", isn't python still the most played iccup after 4 or 5 years? and HBR one of the most played as well?
|
I DEMAND CONFIRMATION!
was that really really FBH? :D
|
Well yea Antoine but python and HBR are excellent maps, while the blizzard maps are all horrible, and too small... Python and HBR are beautiful maps .. and yes to confirm in that screenshot it is the real firebathero, KT.MGW)GGaeMo , and TheRocK, and dream.t)coffee, all real pro gamers, many pro gamers all hang on USWest in Op ClanBy, although you don't have to take my word for it, I guess I could go get more screenshots of good well known players on USWest to confirm that all these pro gamers are real.

BW is basically unplayable. It's got terrible resolution, it requires so many fixes for you to run it on win7, there's no matchmaking, it requires antihack, separate application to get on iccup. There's no MBS, autocasting, automining, the difficulty curve is vertical and everyone is gosu.
Sadly, it's a superior game but I'll be playing SC2 while watching BW.
|
@antoine... right now, the most played map on iccup would probably be Fighting spirit. I believe it was python -> destination -> heartbreak ridge -> fs. (i think that's the order)
@dc... Personally, I don't like sc2 because of everything you listed, autocast, automine.

basically these reasons is why i chose to do sc2bw instead of just going back to bw sc2 engine has many improvements that are nice to have.

dcberkeley all those reasons you listed about why BW is "bassically unplayable" is why it has such an amazing re play value, all those things you listed is what makes BW the game it is lol. T_T

so basically, what you're saying is you want to put in no effort and get all the rewards?

Sadly, it's a superior game but I'll be playing SC2 while watching BW. I originally thought the same but once you get used to it, its really quite simple.

I totally agree that all terran / protoss units are so overpolished and some things i cant come to grips with like the mothership... it just seems like an irrelevant unit when looking at zerg's units lol
The mothership is a funny piece of creation. It first started off as a unit that could use abilities like "time bomb", "black hole" and "planet cracker". Then they decided that they should just make it a glorified arbiter.
Anyways, we should try and play RW more often. Also with the fish server and brainclan servers being made available I can finally mass games amongst koreans! yay! (Unfortunately all the games I see are on python, and I can only play on FS T_T).

Magic Box Casting > autocasting MBS isn't all that much of an issue if you setup a base nicely and have a "macro zone". Difficulty curve is hard, but entirely justified. Not everyone is gosu.
There's no (automatic) matchmaking but you can watch replays together. Not to mention you can race pick if you wanted to or not play against certain races if you don't want to.

Yea true, I saw the thread about "race wars everyday!" , I never really played many race wars but I guess I should try it out more now, whats your name on iCCup or West Nazza? I don't have brain or fish DLed atm.

I'm "Nazza131" on Iccup, but there's a list of everyone that I put on the thread. Sadly I don't play all that much because of the time differences but they played some a few days ago so I heard.
EDIT: 1400 KST today, or in about 3 hours? Grobyc says so, so you gotta be there.

I want to play some team micro melee with people who actually know how to play the map. I'm QuothTheRaven on iCCup / USEast, and QuiQuaeQuod on USWest; if you see me on I'd probably play!
I'm really busy this weekend, though

Do you mind if I ask you which race you play in BW, OP?
I am really interested, since you talked about your love of the game being rekindled. All races view the game differently, and thus, love it in different ways.

Lol?
It takes less than five minutes to get Brood War running on Win 7. I've done it myself. And it definitely takes WAY less than 5 minutes to get a game of Brood War. As for anti hack, it requires you to click on a different icon. How is that a hassle at all?
In fact, I just had an 8 hour + gaming session (not exagerrating) of CONSTANTLY playing Brood War. I NEVER had to wait for a game, it was just constant playing. And I wasn't even playing on the low ladder ratings where most players are.

I played a fair share of P and T in BW up untill release of SC2 beta, restarting as zerg kinda because I played a lot of zerg in SC2 so it made me like zerg a lot, and because microing mutalisks in SC1 is way more fun

Imo, Zerg is the most fun race in BW. =) That's just 'cause they suit me best, though. I can see why people would think Terran is more fun.
