I hate to be more egotistical than usual, but I've been soul-searching or whatever it's called. 99% of tl doesn't know, or care who you are, so I'm sure your presence on these forums isn't hurting anybody . EDIT: If you're talking about thew old days, well idk maybe someone who has been here longer will answer <3. You presume too much. Although I suspect the % of people who know who he is is considerably smaller than it would have been before SC2. And I bet most new members have never even heard of Zia. It's like watching your favourite pub fill with new faces until suddenly you don't know anyone's name, you can't get a table and the bar is always crowded.

So, how do you guys select new mods/banlings/ and even admins? I mean, I'm guessing not all of you were founders of the original site

Chill, how did you come to be such a prominent figure in the TL community? (Casting TSLs, TL attack, showmatches, holding the coveted position of strategy mod). I've lurked this site for a long long time now, but I would love to know a little bit about your history, as you have probably been my favorite caster/mod since I started lurking before TSL 1 started.

Why haven't the BW and SC2 Liquibets been awarded and reset in so long? Who is responsible for this?

The BW liquibet season will end shortly, with the MSL finals just coming to a conclusion over the weekend. There have been multiple breaks in BW play (the lunar new year for example) that extended the length of this season.
The SC2 liquibet season will go on a bit longer but it will be turned over in the near future. Unlike BW, one "season" of GSL simply is just too short right now to turn the liquibet season over so quickly. In the light of recent upcoming SC2 events (namely TSL next month), the turnover has been delayed a bit longer to coincide.

If all TL staff were thrown in a arena and had to clash in a battle royal, who would win and why?

That is true, although I mainly keep to the BW forums, general, and blogs (where most of the posters are somewhat recognizable), so I'm in that section of the bar where everyone hangs and resents ignores the presences of the new people .

Does mocking an SC2 personality's command of English and foreign/ethnic accent constitute racism?
Also, do the TL.net Ten Commandments apply to the live streams?
|
What is the order of units, and at which point do the little images at the left side of our nicks change?
What exactly is that power rank on the right part of the website?

I wouldn't call it racism, but it's certainly not something you should be doing at all in the first place.
The Commandments apply to pretty much any area that TeamLiquid is extended to. This includes being horribly rude to admins in ladder matches (just ask Plexa!), streamers inciting PM spam, and the like. I would imagine that if someone chatting in a stream commits some particularly heinous offense, that might have repercussions on their TL.net account, but it would probably be situational.

//tx For the rank icon list, I recommend you take a look at this thread. It should be quite informative.
As for the Power Rank, it's basically our writers' opinion on who the top ten Brood War progamers are every month. It's obviously not definitive or official, but I'd wager it's fairly accurate.

There are different paths taken by different people; some started doing one function and migrated over to the moderation side. Historically, most of us were simply long term members or contributors that got along with the rest of the staff. Me personally, I was simply a very active user brought on to assist when most of the other mods weren't online (since most of the other active mods at the time were European). Safe to say, I've been an active member and TL loyalist for over 7 years now.
More recently, since we began segregating roles more specifically (ie, the Banling project to fulfill moderation roles), it's still the same process but on a bigger scale (someone needs to be nominated and heavily supported by the staff - remember, we work together so we need to gel together).
It's not too complicated. We just have to like you.

After the unfortunate incident with IntoTheWow, we are under legal obligation to ban all Argentinians from the website. Sorry.

1) When it devolves into personal attacks, it's an issue. Racism was never the concern (in most cases).
2) No, we have no control over what users allow or don't allow on their streams.

Nazgul - that spiked helmet would hurt.
In all seriousness, probably Incontrol - he's a beast of a man.

Seeing as I just purchased a house... getting out of debt and making updates to said house. The two are, unfortunately, in direct contradiction with one another.

Terrible posters, people who think TL is 4chan, GG.net, left-handers, the country of Argentina, and Leprechauns. Seriously, fuck Leprechauns.
