Mani,When was the last time you played BW and what is your iCCup Rank and Race?

Apparently there was a story about how FakeSteve[TPR] became a mod. What is this story?

oh and my last question, will Konadora ever become a mod?

Sort of piggyback off this question, what were some best BW ICCUP ranks of some of the mods?
I know guys like Chill and iNcontroL (duh) are really good, but are there mods who didn't even play BW?

Naz, FrozenArbiter (Jinro), Legionnaire, drone (eriador), rekrul and Midian were all giants of the foreigner scene. Apologies if I've forgotten anyone there, it was not intentional.
Personally, my iccup peak was A- during the exceptional circumstances of TSL2 qualifiers.

I call the legitimacy of that rank claim into question.

As I knew you would. Firstly, he asked for peaks rather than ranks, I'd have said something lower (especially after the last six months inactivity) if he'd asked for my current rank. Secondly, I said the circumstances were exceptional at the time of the peak, qualifying the rank as an aberration rather than the norm. I've already voluntarily invalidated that rank, thus beating you to the punch. Your move. :p

Dear TL staff,

Can you please shed light upon the curious case of IntoTheWow? I heard of some accident with him that made you ban all Argentinians

I made a topic that got shut down and then I noticed someone moved it from 'closed' to a sub forum called 'gallery'. Why and what's the gallery for?

(not asking why it got closed, that's pretty clear I guess.)

It's an art gallery. We hang pretty threads on the walls and then meander about, making up complex theories as to their underlying meanings. We then sell these threads to other forums for vast sums. In fact, we sold one thread last month for over $170M ESD.

You opened a thread detailing how to illegally purchase things from Blizzard through unconfirmed means.

In order to censor that information, the thread was moved to the Gallery - a hidden forum that only TL staff can access.

Wtf I demand a share if you sell any of my threads. I put a lot of hard work into those. You can pay me in liquibet points at a 1 ppm exchange rate.

Am I right in assuming that my mod notes are now in an even worse state than when I last asked a couple of pages ago?

99% of tl doesn't know, or care who you are, so I'm sure your presence on these forums isn't hurting anybody .

EDIT: If you're talking about thew old days, well idk maybe someone who has been here longer will answer <3.

You presume too much. Although I suspect the % of people who know who he is is considerably smaller than it would have been before SC2. And I bet most new members have never even heard of Zia. It's like watching your favourite pub fill with new faces until suddenly you don't know anyone's name, you can't get a table and the bar is always crowded.

Based on Kwark's response to an earlier question, I became kind of curious and am interested in the opinions of a lot of the staff members. I would guess that most of you miss the days when TL was relatively smaller and had a much more tightly-knit community, but how many of you actually prefer those days? Is the success and mainstream acceptance (or at least growing acceptance) of Starcraft 2 worth the loss of the community state this site once had, or would you honestly prefer that things went back to the way they were?

There's a definite give-and-take in the transition, but it's hard to accurately evaluate the past because so much of our perception of what TL used to be is colored by the rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia. To be honest, it was nice to be able to recognize everyone and there was a pretty loose, permissive environment for the most part, but many of the threads were overly conversational or just not that interesting (although TL has certainly had more than a fair share of golden moments). So while the community has ballooned into an enormous mass of people, that means there are more contributors and more high-level content being produced by the members here than ever before.

Now the bar is big and popular it's probably cleaner and a much nicer place to bring your kids and the manager can afford to get some big bands to come play gigs and shit which is awesome cause you know him from way back and he can get you sweet tickets. There are positives and negatives as with everything. But there is a bit of nostalgia.

This question is for the owner of TL. Not sure if this is too personal if it is don't bother answering it, and it might have been asked before seeing as there's 100 pages of posts, but how much do you guys make from this site? If you don't want to give an exact number a more simple question is is maintaining this site your full time job?

TLDR How much do you make from this site
In 1776 all men were created equal, in 1855 all of that changed.

Technically site admins (coders) can access PMs, but we abide by the privacy policy.

Great analogy haha. I remember being completely floored at seeing TL score a short interview with Boxer in 2006. Now he's in the TSL. With Nada.

To my knowledge Nazgul and Meat have made $0 from TL. They make a living by being international men of mystery.

It's pretty unreal to think that Boxer actually wants to compete in our tournament. I mean he's Boxer lol. I can't actually think of a metaphor for a situation in which someone this huge would be participating in this kind of community thing, it just doesn't happen.

I remember sending that list of questions to the SKT manager before Boxer went into the airforce, and my one "over the top" request I had was for the picture of him and the TL sign. When I got that I was sooooo happy.

Now he is in the TSL. So surreal.

Okay, think I've made ground on the metaphor front. It's like the guy who invented the guitar and had the first dozen number one albums got together with the most successful musician of all time and asked if they could play at your regular drinking hole.

How does the user info look? Like the page where it shows all our warnings and bans and whatever it has that you guys have access to, to see our history. (pic please?)
I asked my friend how the ratio at a party was, he replied. "Let's just say for every guy there was two dudes."

TSL really brought people out of the woodwork. I got contacted by a major American sports broadcasting company that has four letters in its name. They had recently invested in a videogame league (relationship now defunct lolz).

Donkey- Let's nto beat around the bush. We want to buy your site.
ManifestoCrusher- Um, we play starcraft, not xbox.
Donkey- That's ok. We will make it huge.
ManifestoCrusher- Um, we don't even have a sponsor for the tournament yet. Would you be interested in a sponsorship deal? We could work out some sweet exposure for you.
Donkey- We just want to buy the site. What is your business model?
ManifestoCrusher- Our what?
Donkey- How much do you get paid a month?
ManifestoCrusher- Um, nobody gets paid. It is a volunteer site.
Donkey- Yeah but how much do you MAKE?
ManifestoCrusher- We pay our server fees with google ads and sometimes we make shirts. We don't make a profit though.
Donkey- I'll buy your site. You know, I can't pay a lot, ut I could give you a few bucks for the domain and create a paid position.
ManifestoCrusher- But we have about 30 staff. Who gets the money.
Donkey- It could just be between you and me.
ManifestoCrusher- ...
Donkey- So how much for the site?
ManifestoCrusher- One million dollars.
Donkey has left the chat.

Is there a certain requirement for fan club threads? I wanted to make a Polt.Prime thread but I didn't see one, and was wondering if there was a reason for that besides possibly nobody else liking him enough to warrant a thread.
