There is a common Chinese saying that stomach ache is not a disease but the pain is excruciating.
I think I know what happened. Today I was in a really big hurry, so I went to grab breakfast at McDonald's - two hamburgers, one small coffee, and one muffin. I ate everything on my way to school really fast in the freezing winter.
+ Show Spoiler +Yes, McDonald's in Canada sell muffins. As far as I know they are not sold in the US?
I began to feel the pain at about 6pm in my girlfriend's house. Like I said, the pain was excruciating. Don't get me wrong, I love my girlfriend and I know she truly cares about me, but I don't think she took care of me properly: she insisted on giving me food to eat and hot water to drink. I didn't know that these things were inappropriate and she was so enthusiastic so I complied.
So yea, it kind of got worse. Again let the record reflect that I am not blaming her (she was acting on her best judgement) - although I kind of wish my girlfriend was a medical doctor, hahaha.
The pain finally settled around 9pm. By then I called my parents and asked them to pick me up. Unfortunately, the pain returned at about 10pm. I took some Domperidone, but it didn't help too much as the pain intensified. Reluctantly I did some self-induced vomiting around mid night - only to find that I only managed to purge everything my girlfriend cooked for me. This seemed to show that the new round of pain might have been caused by my lovely dinner with her.
Then I did something very stupid myself. After I emptied my stomach I felt the (false) sensation of hunger. I wanted to wait until I was completely OK before ingesting any new food - but hunger triumphed over rationality. After googling a bit, I decided to eat some toast; this brought me to another round of pain.
I couldn't take it anymore, so I made myself vomit again at around 4am. This time I didn't manage to completely purge everything because the initial wave of vomitus went through one nostril, causing a very unpleasant burning sensation in my nose. After debating with myself for almost half an hour I decided to not try to vomit anymore, nor eat anything until next morning.
The good news is that the pain is fading (which is how I gathered enough energy to blog this); the bad news is that the pain is still there and I can't go to sleep. It's almost 5:36am here in Toronto - and I am hungry and tired.

Go to a doctor. It doesn't sound anything food-poisoning related but more like somethings stuck in your digestive tract. Get well soon dude.

I think you need to give your stomach some rest and stop putting food into it and stop throwing up. Take some pain killers and try get some sleep and if it consists go see a doctor.

Are you positive its not something like kidney stones?

I was about to post that. 1 month ago, I woke up 1 hour after falling asleep with the most horrible stomach pain I ever had. I compared the pain with tooth pain (tooth pain was the worst pain I ever had before) Anyway, it didn't go away, and I thought I might have appendicitis, as the pain was bottom right of the stomach (it wasn't low enough to be appendicitis, but I didn't know that :D) The pain was so intense that I finaly called an ambulance, and it was stones (not kidney, bile stones...I don't know if the word bile exist in english ? The organ that process fat, google translate says it's "gallbladder") There is no treatment, so I can't eat fat since that day, or I'm good for 12 hours of intolerable stomach pain ><
So OP, if you still suffer in 2 or 3 days, go to hospital to check that. If you eat something a little fat and it starts pain, it could be that. For now you should eat soups, it's a garanteed non-pain-starting in any case at least.

Stomach aches suck. Drink some Canada Dry and/or water, try to keep down some carbs for energy (preferably rice) and if it doesn't clear in 24 hours from when it started hit up a doctor.
|
WTF have you been smoking? Appendicitis is an acute inflammatory disease which requires surgery for it to be cleared. If anything, that it got worse after having eaten points towards an overproduction of stomach acid combined with a possible ulcer...
Go see a doctor ASAP.

Medical professionals always advise me to avoid carbs during episodes such as yours. I'm told to drink soup and gradually introduce more carbs into my diet by adding crackers to the soup. I definitely understand the sentiment behind the Chinese statement, so I hope you feel better!

just drink liquids for a few hours , orange juice for energy , no milk , if its still alot of pain in the afternoon go to the doctor

Go to a doctor asap, no reason to risk anything.

Moral of the story don't eat McDonalds.
On a more serious note go see a doctor

Yeah, professional medical advice would be a good thing right now. A lot of the suggestions here (appendicitis, kidney stones, bile stones, food poisoning, etc.) have specific locations while "stomach pains" could mean anything below the chest and above the waist.
While growing up, my parents would wait three hours after the last vomiting episode to give me or my brothers water. Maybe that's too long, but I don't think you should be immediately putting something back into you once something came out.
If you're reluctant about going to the doctor I'd suggest taking it easy and resting all day, drink water and gatorade, and maybe some easy soup later on. if the pain becomes intolerable or continues through to tomorrow then definitely see someone about it!

Problem is doctors won't see anything (unless they have radiology and scanner), they can't diagnose you. I dunno how health care works in Canada, but you should go directly to the hospital if the pain doesn't stop (or if the pain comes back each time you eat)
|
Go and see a doctor, now. While it can be some minor or temporary thing you shouldn't play with these too much. I got horrible pains about 6 or 7 years ago, tried to ignore them for a while, after a week and so I already had diarreah with blood, ended up in hospital for two or three weeks and was diagnosed with colitis ulcerosa, though they first suspected chron's.
Thankfully there's pretty good medication and lot of knowledge about most of things nowadays.

Dude, at least call a doctor for advice. TL.net shouldn't really be you first choice for help on health issues.
If it's an appendix on it's way for breakage, you might be screwed if you don't react.
Good luck

I woke up once with a pain in my stomach... after about 12 hours of barely moving and "waiting it out" It turned out I had punctured my lung.
Talk to a doctor.

So many 'internet doctors' in this thread.
Firstly, dont listen to anyones medical advice on the net EVER.
Secondly, go to a DR

OMG what the fuck are you guys telling the OP.
I'm a Red Cross Grade A volunteer. In this situation, the very first thing you should do is GO TO THE DOCTOR ASAP! DO NOT take in anything, except perhaps cold milk if you suspect poisoning. DO NOT induce vomiting. There are a lots of possible causes for this.
GO TO THE DOCTOR NOW! LIKE 1 HOUR AGO!
|
I've never had a stomach ache like you are describing, OP. See a doctor.
