guys, I'm about to host the round of 8 tournament here in the Philippines. Now I've already removed steppes of war, scrap station and delta quadrant (since they are stupid in playing tvz)
Here's the current map pool that I have in mind:
Xel'Naga Caverns Metalopolis Lost temple (somehow, this map is pretty decent) Jungle Basin Crossfire! (hell yeah) Shakuras Plateau Desert Oasis (LOL since nobody plays this map)
Convince me if some of the maps I put there are retarded or sounds just as right
Go guys, need the feedback asap!

Those maps look pretty good. All the tournaments I run use those maps as well.

Scrap is fine for tournaments, remove Jungle and don't put in Oasis since no one plays it. Crossfire is iffy too since no one plays that either.

Thanks ^_^, now mostly it's veto maps and found out that some are pretty decent with how they get their favorite map via veto so I like the psychological factor of it as well
Crossfire, they will be like what the fuck as well as desert oasis, steppes is so retarded like I almost win all my tvz just via map abuse as well as delta quadrant. I removed Scrap Station as well since terrans hate that map and felt like so ZvT favored.
Edit I put desert oasis and crossfire for the surprise factor of the tournament. Like wow man, for real? I mean maps that aren't played much are actually surprisingly good for macro games.
Junk Yard how abou that map? Do you guys see any imbalances with it?

Well it depends on the type of tournament. If it's something with a prize then putting in maps no one plays on is really annoying as a player. If it's a for fun/not serious tournament then it doesn't matter either way.

well it does have a prize pool so you have a point there? if I were to ask, what maps would you put in?

Metalopolis, Shakuras, Xel'naga, Scrapstation and Lost Temple. It's a bit boring but with the current map pool it's the only decent balanced set of maps. Interesting games should always come second to fair games when a prize is involved, so adding maps that aren't played on or throwing them in for entertainment (like oasis) ends up hurting the competitive aspect of the tournament.

Just dropped by to say hi and to let you guys know I'm still alive hahahaha.
When and where is this tournament if I may ask?:D
|
As a player I'm not a big fan of scrap, but as a spectator I enjoy it because I've seen so many weird and epic games play out on that particular map. I'd keep it.
|
i'd replace jungle basin with scrap station...everything else sounds good for the most part

Hey there
It's going to be online this coming sunday. try checking out zendex stream because that's were all the fun is
i guess you're not that into the SC 2 community. Actually still a very small population but not as small as the BW scene.

You take out scrap station but leave Jungle basin? What? I'm a protoss and I'll still admit that JB is a retarded map for zergs...
|
oh sorry ghostcom I forgot that zerg can't get a decent third in Jungle Basin, Anyway will remove it and add scrap station. I dunno, the local terran player's don't have a good plan against zerg here that's why i removed it. Well, I'm about to have a consensus what maps to play on
|
Imho, you should either use iccup maps or new maps of GSL. And, Desert Oasis is far from being good since blink stalkers on desert oasis are just like mutalisks on scrap station.
New GSL maps look goot as well, you should include more of them.Aiur Garden is good, Tal'darim Altar is turtle fest, Biohazard is bizarre, Terminus Re and Crevasse are good as well. At least, they are all better than most blizzard maps.

Lost temple Jungle Basin Desert Oasis
All of these maps have major design flaws and shouldn't be in a "non-retarded map pool".

We just released a new map called:
Temple Fight
Give it a try Its a SCII version of Castle Fight (in wc3).
