Well, not that big. Just interesting. Not as interesting as this, thogh.
Today I was playing a very long phantom game (over 2 hours). Everyone was bored, so I figured to try something weird.
This is what I discovered:
If you have a hydralisk and a stalker attacking each other (they have to be initially out of range from each other and be allowed to approach each other), on creep, both fully upgraded (but blink is not used), then the hydra and the stalker will die AT THE SAME TIME!
That's right. They will both shoot their last missile and kill each other.

You must be joking. Are hydras actually as strong as stalkers? They always feel so feeble in my ZvP battles.
You should try this with a marauder and see if we've all been tricked into thinking there are three unique races.

You can try it yourself. I repeated this twice and it's a tie each time.

Wait, they don't have to be fully upgraded, right? Because each attack upgrade is just +1, and each armor upgrade (duh) is just +1, so they offset, right? (range still important though )
|
I always thought that 1 on 1 a hydra would beat a stalker.

You might be right. But I only tried when they are fully upgraded (yes including range for hydra).

I forgot hydras even had range in this game. Oh my...

For something that requires lair tech and 50 gas they BETTER be as strong as stalkers...

hydras are 25 minerals cheaper and zerg is usually a little ahead on supply anyway so hydras rape all gateway tech. With those extra minerals you can go hydra speedling to surround and destroy. Its amazingly effective. Creep is the issue.

As you mentioned, blink is good here. You can blink back and get the upper hand. You just have to time it correctly. But yes, 1v1 they are equal.

wait does marauder win 1v1 vs hydra / stalker? I'm curious now

E. Okay I had a look at the chart and it totally feels like marauder - stalker could be a stalemate. Health/ DPS-1 (armor) = take ~13,5 seconds to finish each other.
No way marauder beats Hydra without stim, with stim it seems quite close however. Oh yeah, Hydra gets 7 range? Hydra wins.

Hydra vs Marauder is something like
Hydra survives with 12 hp left or so
which is kinda sad when hydra costs 2x as much gas, and doesn't have 20 DPS to armored units

dont compare hydra banng/buck with other units. the hydra will always lose. it has the pretty much worst stats/cost of any unit in the game.

So what we're saying is the three races are actually identical. Cool.

Stalkers are bad 1v1, what else is new.

Of course, this is one unit vs one unit. What makes sc2 (or any other game) interesting is when we mix things up.

this is so far from a major discovery that we have never been to the moon and the earth is flat.
