It's very common in asia, especially east asia. Their parents take care of the money and save it in the bank. So when their son get married, the saved money will be used for wedding, housing, etc. Most parents won't spend the money on themselves unless absolutely necessary.

I would definitely give a huge portion to my parents. Not only is this a shitty economy to invest in for the average person, but I'd sooner pay back my parents for paying for my tuition, and help with the mortgage since they are struggling. It's not like he won the lotto. That money will dry up quite fast actually.

i love how he plans to study the camera movements to know when to perform his ceremony. That's so baller

Great interview. A strong confident man in his gaming skills. I'm glad to see it. He deserved the win with the way he was playing.

I just feel is the right thing to do. You have to support your parents cause they supported you in the past.

FBH already mastered camera timing. MC need to learn from him.

MC fighting!
MC gave some great games this season, and realy made TvP look like a piece of cake! and lol he did distribute his money good, and yeah man, later in life in asian families you can give them some of the money you earned just to say "Thx a lot paps" to all those years they took care of you.

its curious how events turns out, in the beginning everybody claimed terran were the greatest, when GSL was announced i imagine terran will be one of the first race to be crowned champion, its amazing how terran is now the only race without tittles, i loved terran in scbw but now, i dont feel that emphatic to them anymore, i feel more identified with the protoss race, so congratulations to MC for rising the protoss race where it deserve to be....the top of the hill yee haw.

ditto. Its somewhat a tradition to give your first paycheck (or at least a part of it) to your parents as a way of saying thanks for bringing you up (food, shelter, care, love, education,etc.etc.).
Another, perhaps better, reason is for thanking his parents specifically for supporting his choice to be a gamer.
The raising you get from your parents is only "fair" because they were raised in turn. But of course if they do a "good" job, perhaps better than they were raised by their own parents, you could thank them by doing something like this (in which case, they did a good job by supporting/allowing him be a progamer).
Anyways thanks for the review!
Also, haha at the guy "screw you ban me" rofl

They should know how to spend/invest money on their own. Because a pro-gamer that's been playing SC all his life knows jack about investing. I doubt he would be satisfied with 3% APY on DCs or venture stocks offered by some shady dealer, so he lets his mother make investment decisions. I see nothing out of the ordinary here.

Cultural thing. I wonder if there is any western culture/family who does the same thing like almost all Asian families.

Q: We were anticipating some kidn of ceremony, but did not see any. Do you regret not doing it?
A: It was difficult to do ceremonies. I did not know the timing when Camera goes on me. I plan on studying cameras so I can do my ceremony at the right timing.
hahahaha! man this guy really cracks me up, how can you not love someone of thinks things like these?

I love Team Liquid and OGs, but MC just seems too cocky and egotistical to me. I understand the need for confidence, but saying you would have won even playing another race just seems BM to me. And practicing your camera timings?? I would say focus on your game or you might not have those cameras on you again.
On the other hand, kudos to him for giving money to family and his team, so he can't be all that bad. But I will not ever be cheering for him to win again.

Sweet im liking this guy more and more! A korean pro with a personality on stage woo! bring some western flare to the east!
Also curious y no1 is asking for a buff to the terran since they came in second 3 seasons in a roll! its 'obvious' the other two races are far too OP... god cant even type this with a straight face. XD

Someone is taking e-Sports too seriously. "KeepYaCoolBro" and enjoy. It's called entertainment and MC delivers. And idk how you describe MC as egotistical. Its baffling to me.

I doubt the camera timing is the reason why he didn't do any ceremonies. He's 19 in front of such a huge crowd he probably just got nervous. He seemed so awkward holding that trophy in the finals.
