Hey TL! So recently my account on Starcraft II got totally (and I mean totally messed up.) There I was, happily laddering away, and BAM, 1400 diamond with a 50% w/l got changed to 930 points platinum.
Now, at first I thought I'd been demoted or something for being bad and I was about to just carry on when I noticed something strange. From that point on, every single game I played was vs. ~rank 90 bronze. It gets weirder. Despite winning in chains of 20+ games in a row, I never won a single point. After 3 emails and 4 phone calls to blizzard (so far ) I was informed that essentially, they can't do shit.
purty pictures break up wallz of text dontcha know!
Now, stuff started getting worse when I refreshed my sc2ranks.com page, and I found that I was apparently no longer in any league! (??) This was followed by my demotion from platinum to rank 99 Bronze. Yes indeed, I was the lowest of the low, with 0 points, 0 bonus pool and strangely, without the ~50 wins I had took of bronzies in platinum.
So despite all of this randomness, I just have to grit my teeth and work my way back up to the top, so here I am writing a blog.
...wait what?
So here's the plan. Stream every game from Bronze back up to Diamond, in ultra graphics (Extreme when it comes out!) and try my best to improve my skill while doing so. I solemnly swear, that I shall not transgress and fall to bronze level cannon rushing proxy gating every game. I can commentate with a mic or listen to music while playing, whatever viewers prefer.
I hope to gain some viewers and support, or even ideas, via this blog.
If this is a really bad idea or something, feel free to say so, trolls are even welcome!
Thanks, Blessed

That's actually...so strange O_O; I hope your issues get resolved. At least you can have fun on ladder!
|
Good luck ill be watching

Yea, ladder's really weird sometimes.
My friend's played over 250 1v1 games in Bronze, he's been #1 in his division for about a week, top 5 in his division for at least 3 weeks, 14-2 in his last 16, and he still hasn't been promoted to silver.
On the other hand I went 8-3 in Silver and it skipped me from silver to platinum, then I reached Diamond in about 20 games O-o.
How are you contacting blizzard? I'd like to tell my friend so he could do the same thing.

Living the smurf's dream! jk hope your situation gets resolved

updated with link to stream!
unluckily, yesterday chill closed streaming applications so I just missed out =((

A weird bug leads to an interesting adventure.
I hope you can document how the strategies / skills of the players progress as you re-reach the top!
Good luck!

The way it works is that it compares your points + division modifier against your opponents MMR. The system always matches you against people with a similar MMR, so the reason you were not gaining any points was beacuse your points + division modifier were significantly higher than your MMR.
Since the beginning of the game, the average MMR has increased drastically from a combination of 1. Bad players not playing anymore 2. People really improving at the game.
Let's take an example.
Let's say you were MMR of 1500 mean + 25 sigma and you were like 1400 diamond
Now, you stop playing for a long time and so as such, your rating is now
1500 mean, 400 sigma. If blizzard is doing what i think they are then, your matchmaking rating would be 1100. Because of increased competitiveness 1200 is now the threshold to get into silver. Therefore you will play a bunch of games against bronzes. Now your points are significantly higher than your opponent to the point where you get 0 points for winning and lose like 32 for losing. Because of the way MMR works, your mean will actually not increase but your sigma will slowly decrease. So after 50 games, your rating might be 1600 mean 300 sigma. So now you are roughly silver. This is why you got demoted a bunch of times.
It's an effect of using the points system. I wouldn't let it affect you too much. After 100 games you should get back into the position you belong in.
