Jees how things have changed.
On Sunday I laddered a little. First game I lost to a 5 pool, I hate to be cheesed but it's has it's place in the game I guess. I GG'd and left. I watched the replay to see what I could have done to stop it, and then looked at the guys profile. HOLY CRAP, he did it EVERY game he played, EVERY game!!!
I have one question... what sort of fun is that? We all play pretty much for fun don't we? Even the pro's who make a living from it have fun don't they? Over 200 games played and he 5 pooled each and every one. He must wonder why he's still in bronze ....
Next game was entirely different, I played as my usual random and spwaned as toss. I am equally as good (bad) with toss and zerg. So I was pretty happy.
Lost temple map, I won't go over the whole game but I won with 3 colossus and plenty of blink stalkers with a few zealots to soak up the damage.
What came next stunned me. You guys who read this blog and my first proper post about when gamers get old, will know I am a 43 year old fella from thr UK, working professional, and a pretty well mannered guy. I take losses on the chin and try to learn from them.
Instead of a nice usual GGWP I got, "I hope your entire family dies in a horrible accident"
Nice .....
I replied, "Thanks, I wish I had a witty comment but I sadly don't .... dick"
The win was soooo much sweeter.
Players have changed too. In bronze, the players are better, no, they actually are, I am seeing good build orders, good pressure, timing pushes etc.
I won my next 3 then went on a 13 game losing streak, some to cheese, some to good play, most to my inability to lose 20 years of pc gaming and the dreaded clicking.
Yes folks, I'm gutted to say it but I'm one of those.... and I hate it!!! It's so fucking hard to play sc2 using mouse clicks instead of hot keys. I'm try to use them. I REALLY try! But by the time I get to build the spawning pool/gateway I creep back to my old ways and start clicking. It is driving me insane, truly it is.
If I win the lottery I will emply incontrol or Day9 to smck me upside the head every time I do it!! But, as I said to myself after loss number 13,
No Retreat No Surrender.
It's funny, most people, including me I might add, would have thought to themselves, god, I suck at this, and imho I probably do, but I'm having a great time playing this game and being involved in this great community.
Well back to the ladder for me, I hope to make it out of bronze before Sunday, I don't have to be away from home this week and Mrs TeeTh is off out to a gig tomorrow night (Aiden I think) so I can knuckle down and ladder some more, and more importantly have a good time doing it.
Cya soon.
TeeTh Out!
