The clicky sound of the keys is so awesome but I can definitely see why some would not enjoy that feature.

The blacks' lack of a tactile bump plus the low resistance of the browns make this my ideal keyboard. I couldn't be happier to own one of these.

I use a Filco majestouch nkro with brown switches... but some people like blues, too. Blacks can feel a little stiff when you're spamming or holding down keys so stay away from steelseries ones unless you know you like switches.

Losing the keypad, and reducing the size of the cursor-key area, is such a dream for Starcraft imo, it means I can have my mouse and keyboard hands much closer together, gives me less neck fatigue which I'm having trouble with. Also, ultra-compact keyboard makes it easier for me to hit the F-keys and Esc. My plan is to simply get a new laptop at some point, it's by far what I'm the most comfortable with.

I'd love to experiment with mechanical keyboards some day, but it's not as feasible when you have to make sure to get a Mac layout with a command key and such. I know some of the more expensive ones let you do that (or at least let you pop it out yourself with a provided replacement key), but, as a college student, I only have so much money (yeah yeah, I know, this keyboard was $75, but a Filco or something is half again as much).

Aside from the fact that keyboard looks EXACTLY like my $6 LiteOn keyboard, the only thing that it has going for it is the anti-ghosting. "The SteelSeries 6Gv2 features both PS/2 and gold-plated USB connectors as well as 18K gold-plated mechanical switches. Its increased response times and extreme durability make the SteelSeries 6Gv2 the ultimate keyboard option for gamers." Gold plated stuff, does nothing and does not DECREASE (which is probably what they wanted to say) response time. Gold only affects analog signals. Your keyboard is a digital connection. It's either a 1 or a 0, thus copper does just as good a job. $99 is a waste for that.

It's also a mechanical keyboard, which makes it not a waste at all.

I have got this keyboard too and it may look EXACTLY like a standard keyboard but believe me it is far superior than any cheap rubber dome keyboard which it seems you have. This keyboard contains mechanical switches (black ones) which act differently to rubber dome (yours) to provide a better and unique feel as looks can be deceiving. At first this keyboard didn't feel much different but once you have gotten fully used to it other keyboards aren't usable any more, king of like mouse acceleration. I suggest you do some research before demeaning zdh and his keyboard.

Although I agree with the unnecessary need for gold-plated connectors, it's a mechanical keyboard, which is a big reason for the price tag.

Took a while to get used to the key layout (compared to my old keyboard the size is somewhat off. I can't explain it, but I missed some keys for a week..until my hit rating got up again xD) Only downside is that the driver doesn't remember the backlight setting and defaults to on, but not a big deal. But I would really like to try out a mechanical keyboard once. People treat them like the §$%$ing holy grail. I just can't imagine how they can be that much better or how it must feel..I guess people who own mechanical keys know the taste of unicorn bacon too, 'cause it must be magic.. xD
