I use the Steel Series 7g, and I can never see myself going back to a membrane keyboard ever again
No point in half-assing it.

I don't think those would work for a Filco, though. Yes, they both use Cherry MX switches, but they still have different key shapes.

So I basicly had a random Logitech 10€ keyboard for about all my life. A few days ago I thought it is time to get new technology. I bought the G110 from Logitech... and I returned it 3 days after my purchase.
I just cant stand how close those Makro keys are to the regular keys and I keep hitting them very often accidently. I miss the orientation on this Layout.
Also as a student I need to be able to type a while on it, but the keys are very hard to press and its getting pretty hard after 1-2 hours.

Though I loved the rest of the keyboard. And I'm looking for another one with the following conditions:

- Media keys, including Volume regulation
- At least 1 USB slot
- Luminated
- No keys on the left side of the keyboard
- Easier to press

Has anyone any suggestions? I'm really frustrated, that I cant find any keyboard with those conditions...

I use the unicomp customizer 101 in all black with black blanks, buckling spring still feels the nicest to me and no windows key for the win

Ch4ppi i would suggest a Steelseries 7g but its not illuminated to be honest theough i think u will have a better feel with a unicomp board they are based on the ibm model m and have a great feel to them. http://steelseries.com/products/keyboards/steelseries-7g

While buckling springs are still held up as great for typists, I don't think that I would suggest them for someone who was going to be gaming with it. Besides that, ch4ppi, based on his requirements, seems to be looking for a more "modern" keyboard that you'd normally associate with gaming keyboards (illumination, extra USB ports, etc.). A keyboard with buckling springs just isn't appropriate for those needs at all.

Ch4ppi, I think you'd be best off looking at some Razer keyboards, like the new Blackwidow that is a mechanical keyboard with Cherry Blue switches. It's backlit and has all that extra stuff. The Das keyboard is one of the more popular mechanical keyboards, but some people aren't too happy with the build quality (mind you, people say that about Razer even more). I'm not sure if they have backlit ones, though. The ever popular and legendary Filcos are great and probably the most highly recommended, but they don't have extra ports or illumination. I think the "Decks" have most of what you want, but I honestly don't know much about those at all.

If you're looking for a non-mechanical keyboard, Razer is probably still a good place to look. I think the illuminated Saiteks are supposed to be pretty decent, too, but I'm not too up on the non-mechanical scene since I've had a laptop for a number of years now (and I'll be buying a Filco as my next keyboard since I use an external monitor and am getting a new desktop PC soon).

@Senzei
It's pretty kind of u to give me advice, but it was completly off any conditions I made for a Keyboard that will fit me.
@Char711
Thanks for the great Input. I checked out all of ure suggestions and the Razor keyboard seem to fit me the most. Though I'm curious because of the many bad experiences people get...

I keep feeling there is the "ch4ppi"-keyboard missing on the market...

I have 3 logitech keyboard now, the first one is the standard PS/2 (mouse keyboard combo) that I got when I built my rig before getting the USB New Touch (above). Then I used this one, Logitech Classic New Touch 200 USB, until I got Logitech Ultra Flat on my office, I found I like this one better, so I decided to get one for myself.

Personally I like this one compared to New Touch because of the clickity sounds that come out of it. New Touch is soft type one, quieter, but I don't like it since I don't get the feel of it. This ultra flat one feels like mechanical keyboards (but not) and much cheaper (around 14$ I believe).

Just got a Filco Majestouch with mx brown keys. Best keyboard ever! Used saitek cyborg for almost 6 years and I loved it, but the keys were wearing out. I got a Razor lycosa and that thing was a complete waste of money. The keys would malfunction and razor never responded back to me. Horrible customer service. stay the hell away from Razor keyboards, they're complete dog shit. Filco all the way, this keyboard is so soft and ez to type on. My APM in SC2 went up by about 5-10 APM and. Its super effective.
Thats a lot of NUTS!
