I don't get everyone who's down on BoxeR. This is pretty much the most exciting thing ever, for me. He was the first starcraft pro I'd ever heard about, and I'm pretty sure it's that way for most everybody else too. He was probably the most important person in terms of popularization of progaming.
Plus, I honestly love his gameplay style. He might not be the most solid player in the world, but his style is just so exciting to watch. I'm hoping he pulls something micro intensive during the tournament.
Honestly, I'm going to cheer for him no matter how likely he is to win or not. I'm a loyal fan for all he's accomplished.
Now Yellow just needs to get out of ACE and meet Boxer in the finals.

Why I think Boxer will own in SC2:
+ A lot of his signature moves in BW are now even deadlier / more practical: - Dropships can heal - Bunkers can be salvaged! - Nukes are cheaper and faster - Timing attacks are harder to defend against (or macro oriented plays are less safe)
+ Macro, his most known weakness is now much less demanding in SC2.
My only concern (as a Boxer fan) is the smaller difference it makes between top-notch micro and mediocre micro in SC2 and the lack of the 'wow' factor in comparison to BW - but it could be because we haven't seen the game's full potential yet, and hopefully with Boxer's GSL games will we find out soon

I don't play Terran but is a bunker rush really a reactionary strategy?
|
Not surprised at all he got an easy group to get to the ro64, but its good for the tourney non the less.

I'm sure he had his group tell him about his upcoming opponent.. If they said he was relying on risky, fast expansion play.. bunker rush would be reactionary..
If they said that he was just really bad, end it fast so we can go get drunk, bunker rush would just be pro

No kidding...who the hell cares if he was setup to have an easy bracket? EVERYONE wants to see Boxer on that stage, no one cares about offline prelims. Nada will have a similar bracket there's no doubt about it. One of those 2 guys getting eliminated in pre-lims = many thousands of viewers lost instantly.

the first GSL was epic fun. I've never followed a Starcraft tournament so closely. can hardly wait for the next one!

Thanks. So he does main zerg on ladder and he switched. Think he'd be inspired to stay zerg after fruitdealer won it all...

Q: It looked like you prepared a lot for today's matches. Were the strategies prepared? A: It was the qualifiers so I didn't have specific strategies prepared. I just reacted depending on the situation. The opponent's strategy was a late game strategy so I thought bunker rush would work. Also even I failed, it is possible to salvage the bunker so I did what I wanted.
lmao, Boxer will never change ! Hail to the Emperor !

Some of my fondest memories are watching live streams of BoxeR. I was so stoked when I heard that BoxeR qualified, knowing that I am going to be able to root for my hero in the most prestigious Starcraft 2 tournament in the world. I honestly believe that BoxeR is going to be able to take this tournament and prove to the world that the greatest of all time is here to stay.

Is boxer the oldest pro gamer in the GSL 64? I know he swore he'd play into his 30s, and he's clearly making good on that promise to his fans, I'm just wondering if there are any players older than him?
I didn't play BW competitively (I was pretty young when it came out) so seeing boxer's unorthodox strategies is frankly really exciting, I like that Husky is casting a lot of boxer matches lately.
