So recently my computer has been bugging out on me. It wasn't bad up until today (crashed 3 times within 1 hour, while playing in the semis of a tournament). I've asked a few people what they think the issue is, and I'd like to get TL's opinions as well before I go overhauling my rig. I have 2 issues that are occurring with my computer, and they are semi-related. let me explain.
my comp specs are in my public profile
Issue #1, sleep mode:
Half the time when I revive my computer from sleep mode, The fans start spinning at a ridiculous speed (I think as fast as they possibly can, never hear them spin this fast), and the computer becomes unresponsive and crashes. Now when I say unresponsive and crashes, The keyboard, mouse, and monitor fail to respond, but the tower is still on with its fans spinning. The num lock on my keyboard won't work, mouse won't glow, monitor shows no signal, and sound won't work. There is no blue screen to give me an error.
I've been told this is an OS issue (I have windows vista ultimate).
Issue #2: random crashing:
At random points while using my computer, I'll experience a crash. There won't be a blue screen, it will be similar to how I bring my computer back from sleep mode. The keyboard, mouse, and monitor all become unresponsive and my audio ceases to work. At which point I have to go behind my computer and use the power supply's on/off switch to turn it off, then back on. Now, it usually takes 5 - 8 attempts before my computer successfully starts up from this point, because it will do the intense fan spinning and unresponsive peripherals. I have to constantly turn it on and off until it boots up normally (very low, silent fan speed). The crashing has happened 3 times within the past hour or so, all while playing tournament matches. I gave up and let my opponent have the free-wins for fear of constantly crashing.
I've been told this is either an overheating or RAM issue.
Any ideas?
