the purpose of this blog is to tell you a bit about myself and my struggles to get good at starcraft II. hopefully you'll find my posts and replays interesting and give me some advice and motivation so I can keep going^^
I'm 21, from Bulgaria. dropped out of university in my 2nd year so I can focus on being a personal coach. I used to teach English in a local school before leaving university. I used to be a competitive taekwon-do fighter(itf, 8 years), and I boxed for a bit. atm I'm just lifting some weights and going to stuntman classes. I also like playing football and tennis. btw this is not bragging, I was never really good at any of that stuff ;D just throwing it out here to see if there are people with similar interests.
Speaking of those - I've also watched lots of animes. Not movies though, I rarely watch any movies a all. As far as TV series go - I follow two and a half men, house md and stargate.
I've always been into games. I have spent countless hours playing warcraft3, diablo, civilization series, heroes series, galactic civilization series, jedi knights, final fantasy series. There are a lot more but these are probably the most important. I was a bit competitive in warcraft 3 (having a few thousand 1v1s) but was never good.
And now onto starcraft 2 : )
I'm a terran user because I was human in warcraft 3, always liked the human races (although Insomnia, a good bulgarian sc1/war3 player, might have had a bigger influence that I give him credit for).
I started playing at the end of beta, without any starcraft 1 experience. was put into silver, dropped to bronze after that xD. started watching day9 and having 1 bo against each race.
Now, a few thousand games later (around 2 probably) I'm into Diamond, ~1350 raiting. best was ~1499 one week ago. it has been one hell of a ride and I've enjoyed every bit of it.
Almost all of my time is spent either coaching people, training myself or practicing starcraft. I try to keep myself motivated and work on every aspect of my play. The cool thing is that as with every other sport - the better you are, the more interesting it gets.
I'll get a bit more specific about my match-ups now:
TvT - it's by far my best match up I think. or at least the one I'm most confident because I understand my own race. I always pick up a ton of mistakes when watching replays and if I don't know how to beat some opening or strategy - I try it out myself. I like going biotank these days, neglecting air altogether with the exception of a raven and a few medivacs for drops. I like expanding a lot and getting good map control while while harassing tank heavy players. against players who abuse air control I like getting a good number of marines + 1 or 2 thors. securing expansions and key positions with turrets is a must. also, 2+ sensor towers, in almost every game. been trying the ITR FE (the one he did @ GSL) for 2 days now.
TvP - I've been going pure bio for now. I haven't really used lots of mech in this mu, not very good with tanks here, feel really vulnerable. I go for 2rax or 3rax expand. always try to get ahead in expansions before protoss gets to storm as I feel that my whole army will die if I fail to emp some templars. basically it goes like that - 3rax expand with making only marines till he gets to colossi (always pushing right before colossi/storm timing with lots of marines) late game the more he focuses on colossi/hts - the more marauders I get. if he goes more sentry heavy - I get a few more marines. lots of medivacs and drops lategame. ghost against HTs and viking/marauders against colossi.
TvZ is my weakest MU by far. no zergs wanted to practice with me throught beta and after release so I haven't really gotten the chance to practice and figure out this match up. At the moment I'm either going for marine/vikings (till I beat mutas) into biotankthor + medivac/viking harass (always getting a relatively fast expand) @ close air positions or DOs. On all the other maps I go for the strategy ITR uses or mass thors but I've been having tons of troubles with both of those.
I'll try to share some replays in the upcoming days, hopefully you'll comment on those.
