As many of you may know by now, I attend a college here in my hometown of Sudbury called Cambrian college. I am taking a three year course in Business Administration. I am taking this course as my entry into a BA program at a university in China at the end of these three years (I am on my second year now) in order to live and be with my girlfriend and get my Bachelors at the same time. From there, in an education point of view, I plan on going for my masters. Where, I am not sure yet, maybe in China, maybe somewhere else, I haven’t really thought it over yet or discussed it at all, only that I plan on getting my masters.
In E-Sports, my life has changed a fair bit, I used to have a lot of aspirations of moving up in organizations or things like that, slowly building a career in E-Sports, and I still do, don’t get me wrong, nothing would make me happier in my E-Sports career. But recently I took on the efforts of starting my own legitimate company with a friend of mine from India, some of you may know him as KAGE (he is a frequent lurker of this site, and has been in E-Sports for quite some time now in the Wc3 scene). As I have eluded to, we will be starting a ‘shoutcasting’ company, commentating games essentially along with some written guides and other content as the months roll by.
Having no real time to practice Starcraft II I have given up on my dreams of becoming a professional player. With school, Fnatic and now my shoutcasting company about to begin, I hardly have time to do these blogs let alone practice for over 5 hours a day for the many competitions I would have to compete in. However, with that being said I have forced some time free to do the Alienware Killer Launch Detected tournament to see how I fair against some of these top players and other amateurs. So wish me luck as I do my 12 prelim matches this month : )
To be honest, this year is going to be very long. I wake up at 5am every morning and go to bed at around 10-11-12 depending on what I had to do that day. This year is a make or break year for my E-Sports career. Specifically speaking the end of this year, the March-May area. These few months represent the time I need to be searching for employment for the summer, hopefully (If I am lucky) one of my internship opportunities will come through for me (they didn’t last year, but I will apply again) or maybe I can get a job fulltime in E-Sports again like I did this past summer.
I know my shoutcasting company will not be able to support me this summer, but provided it makes it through its various checkpoint stages this year, I will continue on with it despite not making any money. The reason for this is, I always had a hard time in E-Sports, I always work for organizations which have sponsors, and as a result, I am very limited in what I can do. I always feel like I don’t do enough in E-Sports, and I wanted to change that with something new, and I always wanted to try shoutcasting, so why not give it a try with my favourite game of all time, Starcraft II?
To be honest I am very stressed about this year, and these daily blogs do help me keep that stress in check a little. However I still have my damn eczema is back (I get eczema when I am stressed, very bad eczema) which is frustrating…
Anyway, this year I want to be able to do a lot, in school and out of school. I usually have big ideas and plans, but never really act upon them or thrust them into public view, I hold them tight and never let anyone see them. But this year is different, in many ways, and one way is, Im not going to hold myself back anymore, Im letting loose everything and giving it all I’ve got. My girlfriend keeps telling me to put my heart into things, and I never did, but that has changed.
This year is going to kick ass, and I am going to work until I achieve everything or expire trying!
