I'm thinking of doing this frequently. Post up old songs that were popular back then, and see what I think about it now.
I did say 90's, but the songs might go up to the pre-Wonder Girls era, depending on the situation.
1. I Know (난 알아요) by Seo Taiji & Boys (서태지와 아이들)
This song redefined Korean music in early 90's. Rap was not common in Korea, especially on televised music programs. Then comes Seo Taiji and his group, named Seo Taiji & Boys.
When they first debuted, they received average reviews in a televised program. Despite this review, Seo Taiji became famous. And when I mean famous, VERY FAMOUS. SNSD? Psh... It's nothing compared to what Seo Taiji did back then (and even today).
I have more thoughts about Seo Taiji, but he has many other great songs so I'll leave it off here for now.
3 Ninjas Kick Back, sorry for wrong reference before! =/
2.Honey by Park Jin Young (JYP)
Oh hey! I know that person JYP! He's that producer for Wonder Girls, 2PM, 2AM, and Miss A, as well as G.O.D. and Rain right? Yes. But he was also a singer in the old days.
Charismatic with catchy tunes, and amazing singing/dancing skills. This is how he redefined the Korean music style along with Seo Taiji.
Fun fact: In Seo Taiji & Boys, there are three members. One of them is Yang Hyun Suk, also known as head of YG Entertainment.
Cheers, more music next time (Yay childhood memories!)
Dude H.O.T is where it's at. I used to only listen to korean music then wondergirls came along...
edit: OMFG That SeOTAIJI SONG I never knew he sang that. Holy shit that was in the movie 3ninjas kick back. I used to watch that movie when I was like 7. I remember because the song was korean and the characters were in Japan.

Anyways Subin >>>>>>>>>>>>> GeumBi
The definition of actual K-Pop varies from people to people.
But that's considering that we even treat the current K-Pop as music.

Hahahahah, yeah, the movie was shot in Japan, but they used Korean songs for the background XDXD and I grown up thinking that these songs are Japanese, lol. Btw, I really love the other song they used (actually, the other two songs):
철이와 미애 (Chuli & Miae) - 너는 왜 (Why, You)
... and 윙크 (Wink) (sadly, I can't find a video -_-)
I also like 현진영 (Hyun Jin Young). I think he is the first one who actually brought the hip-hop music in Korea, but for some reason he wasn't quite popular *-*
I really like that Seo Taiji & Boys song even though I've never heard of it before, it weirdly reminds me of how much better I like 90s cantonese music than new ones. Can someone tell me what the song's about? Interested to see how it changed the entire music industry of a country D:
