Hello teamliquid, I would like to take this moment out of your days to discuss an issue that has been bugging me for quite some time. I will be starting my freshman year of college in two days, and I was wondering if any of you have shared with me something that is quite disappointing.
My failed summer goals.
The day after I graduated high school I was estatic to have all this free time to learn new things and have great experiences! Hours between teamliquid, 4chan, minecraft/trackmania, later what do I have to check off my checklist?
Unfortunately, nothing. So I would like those of you that are reading this to list your failed summer goals so that maybe one summer we can actually do some of them instead of sitting on the internet all day.
Here are mine:
Learn to juggle
Learn to play guitar
Hike a nearby mountain
Get my license
Volunteer/get a job

Luckily, I've already accomplished all the dreams I've ever had as a child.
Unfortunately, I was not a very forward-thinking child.

Over the summer, I really wanted to create a really epic piece of digital art. Unfortunately working full time means having little spare time. I also wanted to win the Nobel Peace Prize. That didn't work out so well.

Talking about summer goals here.. I wanted to buy a new car and also take this girl (really good friend that we are very attracted to each other with, but don't want a relationship) for a vacation somewhere. Well i haven't bought the car, fucked up pretty much everything and lost a huge amount of money. We can consider it a good summer i would say.
* i also wanted to get to B ranks on iccup and begin working out again

I didnt get myL for drivers licence. im 19.5 years old!
did get a job and into a good program for uni tho.
also got tanned.

I was supposed to teach myself all of Calc 1, only got into implicit differentiation which is like 1/2 way I think. I was supposed to study for the SAT so that I could get a 2100, Hopefully I can still pull that off tho cuz the test isn't till oct 9th. Oh well... =\

failed my road test. so yeah, i failed to get a license.

Learn to juggle - Learned back in 7th grade, my teacher taught us, so baller
Learn to play guitar - no real desire, I used to know how to somewhat play when I was younger
Hike a nearby mountain - I did a 5day 75km hike on West Coast trail, parts of it were on mountains, it was painfully good ^_^
Get my license - I'm forcing myself to learn how to drive
Volunteer/get a job - I took summer courses and have quite a bit of money saved up from previous jobs, so I wasn't really feeling like getting a job
My other goal was to play SC2 a lot, so far I think I'm doing ok at it ^_____^

My main goal this summer was to get a really good job, and even after only working 2 months i can pay for all of my schooling this year and rent so check check check!
my other was run a marathon and that also happened, it wasnt my first one but damn those are fun
got my class 5 this summer too, so that was awesome

All of those goals are fairly easy to accomplish. Getting a job might be difficult in this economy (volunteering is not) and getting your license takes a while, but I bet that with dedication you could juggle 3 balls, play 3-4 chord songs on guitar (about 80% of all pop songs) and have hiked the nearest mountain within the next week, so long as you aren't desperately out of shape.

Sighs.... what a waste of summer all of ours were... oh, speaking of which, an ideal list of summer that did NOT happen.....
To get a 6 pack, or even a 4 pack, or 2.... working out...
To get a a paid internship or even any one (got one now but also wanted summer one..)
To find an ideal girlfriend
To learn how to play guitar
To be e-famous
To teach Korean in a webcast (I will still but tba)
To win the lottery and be rich
To start a video games music/talk radio show in summer (delayed to fall...)
To be knowledge of using media related equipment
To learn and master any and all sorts of editing program
To learn how to make people laugh and be on a starting road of a comedian
To enjoy and have fun

Failed to finish research project by Summer's end (have ~1.5 weeks left) >_<

ah. Failed summer goals here too.
1) Learn some Korean. (for SC awesomeness.)
2) Get a job/get money. I want some money to spend, otherwise my summer would basically have gtone to waste.
3) Hit C on ICCUP. I basically lost my desktop on which to play, which kept giving me excuses for not laddering at all so much that I couldn't even hit C- this past season, and with school starting soon, I don't know how much time I'll have to spend playing SC.
Things I DID do.
I built a table out of MDF and Ikea legs and painted it, Thats cool
Finally probably fixed a water leak in my car. Nice to not drive a fishbowl around town.
