I know that many of you are anxious to see replays, however there were about 1000 contestants for preliminaries and as we were trying to get it over in two days, we didn't have the luxury to provide them. But stay tuned! The opening match will be held on 4th of September which is next saturday at 7pm KST. 16 players out of those who made it RO64 will be playing that day, which we plan to broadcast. Those who do not compete in the opening match will have their match at our studio, and their games will also be broadcasted. We are very pleased with your great enthusiasm and interest, and will continue to keep you all informed about GSL. If you have any questions about GSL, feel free to contact me. junkka@gretech.com You guys are awesome. Keep it up! Thanks for believing in the SC2 community and throwing so much support behind it.

Unless we have numbers about races of the whole participants no one could make any conclusion. But since the perfect 33%/33%/33% would be 21.3 of each race in the bo64, one can say 16 27 21 is close enough to not make any balance conclusion anyway, especially when you ponder the fact that there was probably far less Zerg than Terran and Protoss. If p = #Zerg / #Population : Let say the population is 33% 33% 33% (it is not but this will even strengthen my point since I will show it is not significant numbers to claim a difference between Bo64 races and population races). Null Hypothesis : p(Bo64) = p(population) = 0.33 v.s. p(Bo64) < 0.33 The sample we have shows p^(Bo64)=16/64=0.25 The standrard deviation of such average of a binomial is Sqrt( p * (1-p) / N) with p = 0.33 and N = 64 it results in 0.058. So Z = (0.33-0.25) / 0.058 = 1.37 where Z is N(0,1) (approximatly) so there is 9% chance to get such a sample. This is big enough statisticaly speaking to not reject the Null hypothesis. This number will be even greater with the real population proportion of zerg contestants since it is lower than 33%.
