Amazing improv... T^T
Oh the memories...
Recently this is all that I've been obsessed with. Makes me wish I had taken up piano (check out the other videos of him too, he's just a really damn good piano player - most of the videos show him sight reading this shit)
reminds me of the crazy piano monk in athens, GA. this hare-krishna monk guy used to go around downtown on weekends with a piano in his pick-up truck bed. he would park it on a bar street and play for folks. he had a laminated "menu" with 600+ songs that he could play by memory. He played in a style he called "drag" i think. anyway it was the shit where your thumb and pinky have to be spread as far as possible for the chords.. anyway he always rambled on about how terrible popular music has become and would always disdain Athens musical heyday i.e. the 1980s (see B-52s, REM, Love Tractor) when michael stipe (from REM) walked around town with "little boys with cum in their hair"...
Great reminder of just how good Yoshi's Island "Athletic" was...sounds good no matter what. The pianist is pretty skilled, too, but a sight-read play of the piece doesn't produce something that's best to listen to, and the camera sound quality...ugh.
I apologize for the bump. But I recently discovered this man and noticed that this blog did not get that much attention. This guy is seriously great. Here's a recent song he did.
