If im 600 rated platinum player and get promoted to diamond rank, do i get my points reduced by a certain amount? Like back to 0, to 400, by 5% or something? I tried to find any answers to this but i could't, so asking here (reason I ask is just to find out if you can compare ppl across leagues based on points)

You see a higher win ratio for newer divisions usually because they have less people so their average isn't dragged down by the lower slice of players in the ranking. I'm open to discussion if other people want to weight in on this, that's just what I'm thinking. However newer divisions have fewer points, as they gain in points their win ratio drops. Hence by marrying the two (using both points and win ratio to determine a ranking) we can hope to compare both new and old divisions to see which is better. (Most of the older ones are, because the players had the skills to get promoted to diamond sooner, but again I think you'll find that 700 point players in an old division are much better than 700 point players in a new division so this helps prevent only old divisions being at the top). If we rank only by points then it is simply the divisions with the massgamers who win in the end. Oh yeah and win ratios clearly must average 50% over all the leagues, I think you'll find (by looking at your site ha) that bronze win ratio is around 40%.

I was wondering what the difference is between the region rank shown under my 1v1 leage and the rank shown when I click on history for that same leage, right above the history graph. Also earlier today my rank was 16000 something, then it was 2616, then it went back to 16000 something. Considering Im low diamond as I just got promoted, I would assume its the 16K but it got my hopes all up. Anyway very good job on the site. Perhaps your rank was 16000 in world, 2616 in region? I believe the difference between the two ranks you are descibing is the one under history is your rank with your race (there is a little race icon before it). E.g. Region rank #15 Protoss (#10 region rank)

Definatly watched it happen.

Is there any way to grab the Top XXX in a particular region? It looks like if you go to the stats tab and select Top XXX and then filter by region, it's actually grabbing the Top XXX in the world, and then filtering out anyone who's not in the selected region. This has the effect of the absolute numbers not adding up to XXX, which had me confused for a long while before I figured out what was happening.

Have to go back on what I said, doing achievement points requires a table join and I don't consider there to be much benefit in achievement point listings since it's strictly for league stuff. I might add something if I add some sort of achievement competent, but it won't be added to the league info. Yea the stat implementation was a bit buggy, it should all be fixed now. See: http://sc2ranks.com/stats/league/us/1/100 The absolute numbers will not always add up if you have multiple people at a specific point tier thought.

All graphs will work on all browsers now, the coloring is going to be a little bit off for IE8 but that will be fixed after I get food. I wasn't a fan of the old stat page implementation, having 50 boxes of clumped up information is kind of hard to read and I wanted a way of putting more graphs onto the page. They also weren't that flexible without having 500 different bits of logic so I redid it. Ideally it will be easier for people to find information, and you'll also get more complex stats because you can show a lot more than the old system. Examples: http://sc2ranks.com/stats/league/all/1/all league stats for all regions and everyone in 1v1 http://sc2ranks.com/stats/region/diamond/1/all region stats for all the diamond 1v1 brackets http://sc2ranks.com/stats/race/us/1 race population by point slices in the US, Point slices cap out at 12 for sanity, it tries to show the upper slices more, so it will compress the lower ones if it runs out, hence why you see 1 - 300 for example. The graphs might change a little, I'm not sure how much I like using stacked bars for league and region graphs, they'll probably change to side by side. A bunch more changes for later, but if I don't go get lunch now I'll forget until 8. [edit] Also stat cache changed to 12 hours from 6 to keep them loading quickly, absolute-to-the-hour accurate stats won't tell you anything useful anyway and cause more load time.
