If your character is not in the database, you can manually add it by entering your battle.net URL in the "Add Battle.net URL" tab.
You can also create a custom division (no region restrictions) through the "Custom division" tab, can allow anyone to add or remove characters, but also includes admin controls to see who adds or removes characters and the ability to revert changes or ban changes. Example, http://sc2ranks.com/c/1/sc2ranks-test-demo
Supports all 1v1 and 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 brackets and their respective random brackets as well. Adding around 20,000 - 30,000 new profiles per a day, http://sc2ranks.com/stats/changes
Top 100 1v1 Diamond players are updated every 30 minutes, top 200 of every other bracket/league are updated every 6 hours. On the hour, the oldest divisions are updated for about 20 minutes, the goal is to have data be no older than 24 hours even for the lowest divisions. http://sc2ranks.com/status

My initial impression is that it's bad to put every server together in one list, because you can't play people from another region.
So 900 points on US Server is different from 900 points on KR server, etc.
edit: oops i noticed there's a dropdown to change the list T_T
edit2: it's now a month and a half later, I have to say that this site has grown to be the premier site for looking up global rankings, it's by far the best sc2 ranking site there is.

Mostly that's because people want to see how they matchup across the world, you can filter it by region thought eg: http://sc2ranks.com/ranks/us/diamond/1 will give you North America diamond 1v1 and a profile will show the world/region rank of your highest team http://sc2ranks.com/char/us/715900/dayvie
I need to also make it so you can see each teams region/world instead of the highest thought.
[edit] Missed your edit, there you go

hmm cool, I'm ranked high

900 points is also different from 900 points from another DIVISION. there are hidden ratings that i'm pretty sure are linked to our divisions.

Correlation does not imply causation
Source: Statistics 101
IdrA is one of the few true Starcraft 2 professionals - I mean he plays 12 hours a day and lives in a professional gaming house. I'm not even remotely surprised that he can walk over basically anybody he encounters on the ladder.
Edit: Your site isn't as pretty as RTS sanctuary's listing, but the URL is about 500x easier to remember. I'll definitely be using your site in the future, thanks for posting it up :D
Edit 2: Booo only #422 in North America, MUST PLAY MORE

When I search, I'd like to know what division everyone is in. I searched for Chill and there's like 10 guys ahead of me but I can't tell what division any of them are in unless I click it.

site is great. i love how i can use it to see how many total players are in each league. right now diamond represents the top 4.7% of players
while bronze is the bottom 35%

Damnit chill, there was this guy in my division with the name chill and I was like, "Cool I'm gonna go say hi"
And then he literally starts raging at me, asking me who this TL chill guy is and why everybody keeps sending him messages.
Pick a less common name plzthx

*ba dum chhhh*
Edit: I think someone super cool would be for you to add your percentile rank compared to your region. Seeing that you're in the top .01% of players is always cool.
Although I guess I could just whip out a calculator

On the brightside Chill there are a number of confused users screening your spam messages.

No it isn't. Points are comparable across divisions, just not across leagues. They're comparable across divisions because everyone in a given league is playing against the same levels of people.

I like that idea, I'll have to look into that to see how reliable it is.

Hrm, has that been documented somewhere? My understanding was the divisions are purely a container and are 'first come first serve' without actual ranking basis beyond league.
[edit] Typo, with = without

Mexio, Argentina, Chile, Brazil is the Latin America region last I looked. They are on the us.battle.net but have their own locale id (the /2/ or /1/ in URLs).

I'm not sure what you mean by this, http://sc2ranks.com/search/us/shadow shows the divisions and division rank.

Yeah, though being stuck in a lower league for a while, like idra was, can throw things off in the short term. But that has nothing to do with division.
