The recent threads/posts in this forum have been pretty awful, with ALOT of closed threads and pointless debates. This forum used be extremely well spoken so I decided to put together a checklist for everyone before making a thread/post.
[ ] - Is your thread unique? Use the search feature and check first! [ ] - Is your post following teamliquid.net's rules? [ ] - Does your thread have the appropriate prefix? ([D], [R], [G], etc.) [ ] - Is your post more than a one liner? If it is a one liner, does it encompass what needs to be said? [ ] - Is your post pertinent to the topic? [ ] - Does your post apply to the level(s) of play we are discussing? (IE- If a thread is complaining about mech, and you reply "well I've been in silver for two weeks and I thrash any terran who goes mech, so you must be doing something wrong) [ ] - Is your thread regarding balance? If it is: IT BETTER BE GOOD. We want pictures, replays, analysis, and more than just "wow this is stupid why do thors hit mutas so hard blah blah 4gate etc.) [ ] - Is this the only topic of its type in this forum? (Right now as I type this, there are 3 threads about zerg being underpowered in general, and twoish threads about 4gates in strategy) [ ] - Is your post contributing to the topic? If it isn't, you best not post it. We don't care what your post count is, really. Don't pad your post count please. [ ] - If you are posting a help thread in strategy, does your thread have an attached replay(s)? If it doesn't, ATTACH IT. We can't help you without a replay really. [ ] - Read your post over again. Does it make sense? Is your spelling decent? [ ] - Make sure your post is not rude or condescending [ ] - Have you marked everything off on the checklist applicable to you?
Make your post.
(I am in no way affiliated with teamliquid other than that I love this community and read alot of garbage posts/threads that just bring us all down)

If everyone followed those guidelines sc2 forums would be a wasteland...

Is it concise? So tired of reading essays that could be summarized in 4 neat bullet points.

Thanks, this is pretty helpful. I've also made a flowchart to go with your list. Hope it helps.

making a thread that follows ALL of those guidelines is pretty tough, especially the very last one

(great blog btw) [ ] is your thread regarding balance? Have you tried you tried at least 5 different counter-strategies in the matchup(s) in question at least 10 times each, and then included the replays where you executed the strategies the best in your post?
If you haven't played at least 50 games related to your supposed imbalance, your thread is not about balance. It is, in fact, about the shortcomings of your own abilities (and perhaps the community's as well) which you've tried to hide behind some what-you-believe-to-be-clever theorycrafting.
If you come up with some "solution" to the imbalance, then of course you'll need to make the updates in the map editor and play at least 50 games (of a whole range of strategies) in each matchup containing the race you're changing (so at least 200, including mirror) to see if it degrades the play in any of them.
Too many people in the forums think they have a handle on what it means to balance a game when really what they want is to tip the imbalance in their favor so they can win more...
