So my only alternative is to buy a new mouse. I'm going to buy Starcraft 2 soon too and that was a game where the Logitech Mini Optical also didn't really feel right. In my situation, I think I'm going to have to buy a new mouse that has a relatively high DPI for playing in BW Window Mode 2x as well as in Starcraft 2. What's a good mouse you guys would recommend that's under $50 that's good for both games?

People can reccomend all kinds of mice but at the end of the day just get a quality mouse that feels comfortable in your hand. My current mouse feels comfortable, it's just it doesn't perform as well as I need it to because of its low DPI.

I, sadly, had one fail on me after a number of years. Such a lifespan and amazingness did not go unnoticed, though, and my first instinct was to get another one.

Microsoft, Logitech, Razer, IBM, HP, Dell... you name it, I've probably owned at least one in my life. If I was giving an honest opinion Razer ranks the lowest out of all of them. Expensive, uncomfortable and the mouse buttons felt cheap and "sticky". None of them compare to the feel and accuracy of the Genius Ergo 555. Yeah a "no name" non gaming mouse beats all the marketing hype and fancy looking plastic of the rest. The only problem with this mouse is that it's not as easy to find as other brands. On the internet you should have no issues though. I bought my first one in Hong Kong after testing it at a Computer market and noticing how damn comfortable it was. Bought it for around $11 AUD and it lasted 3 years until it got damaged in my laptop bag while I was traveling and it was never the same again. Recently I managed to get a new one from an Australian store but for almost 5 times the cost - it was worth it and still half the price of what I paid for the stupid Razer mouse I fell for. There is also a new mouse I've noticed that uses a similar chipset/hardware setup as the Ergo 555. This one is from Coolermaster, has better DPI, dual lasers so it will pretty much never "jump". The only thing I dislike about it is the coloured LEDs because they serve no purpose and I hate pointless things. Some people obviously like them though or they wouldn't have them. I *think* this is a link to the mouse I am talking about... my internet is a bit messed up at the moment and most pages are timing out... http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=2951 If I had to pick another mouse I would choose the Logitech MX400 because it's just a solid mouse. The only downside of it is you can't adjust the DPI which is almost a must when changing resolutions to play BW. In the end everyone has a different hand and different preference for mice so experiment. Use your friends ones and see how they feel but just don't get Razer... they are expensive, poorly made and just overall shitty products. I spent well over $200 on Razer "gaming gear" and it was all absolute trash that ended up where trash belongs.

If not, try the Razer Salmosa. Couple of friends who use it like it a lot.

One deal per day for people looking for a razer lachesis. Personally I Hate razer but I saw this deal today, and remembered this thread in the blogs so figured maybe I should post it. I prefer the Microsoft Intellimouse explorer 3.0. But I come from an FPS background so I have ridiculously low sensitivity and prefer it that way.
